winning team = sell out crowds. go watch the days when the yankees sucked and see how many fans were in attendance.
why do u think organizations want to win so badly?? you think owners want rings and shit? 76% of them ..fuck NO! they want to sell out as many seats as possible so they can generate revenue.
look at the marlins in their championship run..how about the rockies? ..what about the 1996 expos? or the 92/93 jays? the fan base b4 and after their success is an absolute joke because in sports, you are judged by what you put on the floor/ice/field.
if not baseball take a look at the atlanta hawks of last year, or how empty MSG is right now...or even the nets ..
there is little loyalty in sports these days

I agree. Our fans in Tampa need to go to New york or chicago or boston to see some real support for a baseball team. They don't even stand up on most strikeout counts in the playoffs. What a buch of lame ducks. We don't deserve such a great team this year. the fans are pathetic.

Yeah I remember the '92/93 Jays teams and how the fans just flocked to the then-called SkyDome for every game. Afterwards, it was damn-near impossible (95-onwards) to even get close to a sellout.
There was a lot of talk about the baseball strike of 94 being a major reason for the attendance drop, as well as Toronto being a Hockey town so nobody cared, but in reality, it was because they were no longer a powerhouse team. They can sugar coat it all they want, but it's the truth.
Look at attendance numbers lately (when they've played better). Fans support a winning product. FACT.

I honestly think it is difficult for Tampa Bay or the Marlins to get huge fan bases. A lot of the Florida population is older people living in the northeast who buy houses down south and live down their for portions of the year. I would say a lot of those people are from the Boston/New York/New Jersey areas and they keep their baseball allegiance despite owning a Florida home. I don't think it will ever be sellout after sellout at these stadiums

of course their fans are going to route for them now that they're in the playoffs. Their team has sucked since it was created and they finally have something to route for. The real test will be to see if they support the rays for the years to come.

Yeah, I did notice that when they pan the crowd in the Trop that you don't see ANY old Rays hats/jerseys. All the replica jerseys look like they still have the packaging creases.
But I'm a Reds fan in Cincy, and I want the Rays to win still.
