They have that 100 pitch count on the starters, back in the old days they didn't have that. The only time they would bring in relievers would be when the starters are getting hammered otherwise they let them pitch the whole 9 innings regardless of how many pitches they threw.

Croadies italiano17 - unfortunately that's true, but it's still buggy as hell when these guys are blessed to be makin that kinda money doin somethin they supposedly love. Also, mgrs that continually make the same kind of dumb decisions & non-producers (ie .230/.240 hitters & bad/mediocre pitchers) makin tons more than they should be for whatever reasons.

SJD, hear you buddy - nothin wrong with the specialty age, but mgrs/pitchin coaches have got to know their pitchers individually well enough to have a good idea when to leave 'em in & take 'em out. Shouldn't ever be based on pitch count alone & there's too much stayin with 'em too long and/or not long enough. Of course, that's easy for a fan to say & hindsight's 20/20

When your team is down lets say 2-0 Top of 3rd and you tie it up 2-2. Then the VERY next bottom of the inning they give the lead right back.....that chaps my behind!!!!!!! Wouldn't you think the pitcher/defense would be just a bit more focused after getting right back in the game?? Happens to me all the time........
