Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban was fined $3,000 for a repeated offense of diving/embellishment.
The NHL's Board of Governors and the Players' Association approved a plan for the 2014-15 season to assess fines to players and head coaches on a graduated scale. The first offense is a warning, followed by a $2,000 fine to the player on the second offense, which Subban incurred following incidents against Tampa Bay on Jan. 6 and the New York Rangers on Jan. 29.
Subban's third offense came against Ottawa on March 12 and led to the $3,000 fine. A fourth offense would result in a $4,000 fine for Subban and a $2,000 fine. Head coach Michel Therrien would be subject to a $2,000 fine upon the fourth diving/embellishment citation against his team in a given season.
