If a player in the defending zone shoots the puck over the glass without it hitting the stick of another player or the glass, that player will no longer receive a 2 minute minor for delay of game. I repeat the delay of game puck over the glass in the defending zone rule has now been removed from the NHL rule book.

Just letting you guys know so we can all follow the game properly and not like blind mice, not knowing the rules.

Apparently this decision was made with just under a minute to go in the Rangers/Caps playoff game.

Quite frankly pmoradi I never cared for the rule myself so i'm happy to see it go. However I must say the timing is certainly a bit odd.

And then the phonce call comes to the ice surface from the eye in the sky to say who knows what, we will never know, only the shadow knows.....

Capitals score in Overtime to win the game while the Rangers attempt to kill off a penalty for delay of game for puck cleared over the glass in the defending zone as per....

Section 9

63. 2  of the official NHL rulebook

Apparently the rule was reinstated during the overtime intermission, this is only speculation however as ofcourse they were not kind enough to inform us of this change yet again.

Alzner of the Capitals clearly cleared the puck over the glass in the defending zone with just under a minute to go with the Rangers pressing hard Hook. It was an wasy call that apparently every single person on the ice and on tv saw with ease except for the professional men in striped shirts who are paid to see just this very thing.

That's all I have to say on this matter.

Ofcourse it will go down as another they "missed the call" moment for the NHL.

The Caps were called on it in overtime B4..They killed it off easily.....

Rangers better win game 4 or they''ll be done...Caps have been on fire the last 5 weeks...they are gonna be a tough out this year,Great 8 is ready to go....

Caps player chipped the puck out of play but NO "delay of game" call. did you see the smoke coming out of Tort's ears? BUT don't know IF it would have made a difference. shots 8-0 Capitals in OT. Holtby sitting in the Washington goal eating steak & eggs

I know the OT part but I heard that they missed a call in the 3rd period. Who should have gotten a call?

That's irrelevant, they Rangers had the momentum and were pressing hard and getting chances which is what led the the penalty with the Caps dman trying to get the puck out.

I don't want a makeup call after intermission when they have been able to rest and regroup, you can spin the little tale all you like. It was garbage. They did not call it and I would love to know why.

One situation later does not make up for something ignored earlier when it would have served purpose better.

Absolute BUSH LEAGUE!

I'm not a big Torts fan but that was funny reading his lips to the ref when he came over.

Go back in your hole you juvenile insect. I posted this right at the moment when it was 0-0 in regulation time.

It's not about who won it's about the NHL  being held accountable and having capable employs. This kind of stuff can't happen to any teams when their seasons are on the line.

Stop being a little cheerleader for just 2 minutes and say something intelligent and objective just one fukking time I beg you.

And congrats to Caps fans and backers except the human little douchebag above. The Caps did play great and are full marks for their 2-0 series lead regardless of the NHL and it's officiating or lack thereof

The Rangers are highly overrated. They left their goalie out to dry like they do most nights. Their star players are not producing like they can and their coach really doesn't help matters. Players seem to have tuned him out.

I agree Polar-even though I backed the Caps, it was a bad call and killed any sort of Ranger momentum...
