I didn't put in the times yesterday and it showed. I had by far my worst day in weeks and lost -6.035 units last night.
But it's still been a solid roll overall for a month now so I'll shake it off and get back to work.
For today I think it'd be crazy not to back the PENS. They've been on
fire lately matching the longest win streak in the season by any team
in the league at 11 games. And they've done it for the last 6 without
reigning league MVP Gino Malkin which is something that would absolutely
cripple most teams. And the good news for them not that they need it is
he may be back in the lineup tonight.
And for the first few games of this run PITTY had been doing it by
just outscoring their opponent and averaging over 5 goals per game.
Lately however they've showed that they can win in any way they need to
allowing only 6 goals over their L6 games.
Tonight they're on the road to face a familiar foe the N.Y.ISLES and
they've done just fine against the ISLES on the road winning 4 of the L5
meetings. And overall this year PIT has been true road warriors (12-4)
and earning more points then they have at home (11-4)
Conversely the ISLES haven't been too fond of home cooking,I mean
it's like they're great on the road but to be only 5-10-2 on home ice is
The juice is getting up there on this one so I'll take the reg 0.5,the -1.5 and then parlay the ML to the DUCKS
ANA is also on a nice streak and my only concern today is that they
have a lil bit of a letdown after the awesome 3 goal 3rd and big
comeback against the HAWX in their last game.
But even that shouldn't be too much of a worry as they and the WINGS
have a pretty nasty history and don't like each other much so it should
be a intense game right from puck drop.
So back to the DUCKS streak. They are currently 13-1 on home ice and
thats with a loss in their first game of the year at home when VAN paid
them back for ANA smoking them in VAN 7-3 on their home opener.
DET is still a decent team (mostly at home) but they're nowhere near
the power house they have been for the past decade or so. Missing
Lidsstrom and Holmstrom has decimtaed their PP which has always been so
good and such a tool for them to come back when there down or level the
playing field when they're being outplayed.
Tonight they face at least the 2nd but perhaps the best team in the
league (yea I said it) on home ice where the are absolutely dominant.
And just for good measure they get their best scoring winger back Corey
Perry to help an already great team.
