#1 Posted: 5/20/2012 8:51:59 PM The Kings lost Game 4 in the WCQFinals by a 3-1 score to Vancouver and followed that up by clinching the series on the road in the first of 8 consecutive wins by them.
Remember now... These ARE the playoffs and the teams still alive are there for a reason... They have been Winning.
I posted the following info in my thread earlier today before this game and have updated it now... Phoenix has not given up more than 2 goals in ANY of thier 7 road games these playoffs (5 wins - 2 losses including today's game).
This is what they have done (game by game) - 2 - 2 - 0 - 2 - 0 - 2 - 0
Now lets look what Phoenix has done at home...
2 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 3 - 1 - 4 - 4 and the results were 4 wins - 4 losses.
I expect a renewed determination by the Kings in Game 5 on Tuesday...
Even BEFORE this season playoffs the Kings have always been a decent road team so thier "road" success is no suprise to me right now.
I have confidence that they will get the job done and if they wrap it up on the road then so be it.
It was pushing the issue to have expected them to sweep AGAIN and yes I was backing them today despite these stats.
A loss like this was bound to happen eventually and now that it has happened maybe the taste of that loss will inspire them to go on another 8 game winning streak which would take them into next season... and I'm alright with that.
So No Worries Mate...
It sucks to lose a game... but remember... The Kings are 11-2 in the playoffs so far and are still up 3 games to 1 in this series with the next game is on the road...
... (which has been *"berry berry" good to them).
Just means we have another game to watch... So...
LET'S GO KINGS...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
* To quote the Chico Escuela SNL skit by Garrett Morris...

#3 Posted: 5/20/2012 11:46:58 PM When I saw the score at work, I was ready to lay down on Phoenix the next game coming in Phoenix........................
I just saw the highlights of today's game (mon.) and Phoenix win was ALL Mike Smith........... I will stick with the Kings on Tuesday................ To say Smith stole one here is saying it mildly....................... Man did the Kings have some great chances...............
Phoenix is talking and Barry Melrose (Hair, idiot, dickhead) is saying how bad the Kings played and they will have to bring it up a notch and blah-blah-blah.........................................
I ask you....... The highlights showed some unbelievable chances the Kings made for themselves......... Won more faceoffs, more quality shots and one goal for Phx. was so weird nobody even knew it went in...........................................
So I ask again..... WTF is this all about.........................??

#5 Posted: 5/21/2012 1:00:00 AM yotes won't lose all 3 straight home games to the kings. If they do it will have been a hard fought battle decided in overtime or something dramatic like that. Yotes played much better in LA than they did in phx. |

Kings are just playing so fricking good right now, they are beating everyone everywhere Yotes are two players, Doan and Smith.

#7 Posted: 5/21/2012 4:25:42 AM They are a "team" ....no household names. Just a bunch of gritty players who dont want to end their season by getting embarassed at home a 3rd straight time. The under is a great play |

#8 Posted: 5/21/2012 5:27:06 AM If you watching the game not just highlites, you would see that Cotes played with more intensity were faster to the puck ,and did what good teams do with there back against the wallwin, . Kings blew a golden chance. .They better come out next game with the attitude that its a must win for them They dont want Cotes to get another win and get the momentum back they had 2 weeks ago. I guess now we will see if they are as good as the LA fans think they are Personally I would rather play Kings as a ranger fan but wouldnt mind them playing another couple games out there ... Reason being is Smith is alot closer to Henri .We would love to see the Kid Quick try to deal with playing at the Garden against the best team in Hockey |

NO TEAM IN NHL HISTORY...
... has ever started the playoffs on a 12-1 run.
So the fact that the Kings are now 11-2 is an amazing feat in of itself.
Like I said... They will be just fine. |

Can't be both in the same statement about the same thing...
"won't" ... BUT... "if they do..."
You are trying to balance yourself on the fence with this type of comment. |

(One of the) Best Goalie's and a good defense... Yes... But Best Team in Hockey...
Take Lundqvist OFF the Rangers and they would struggle even worse to win every night and every game.
Put Lundqvist on some other "good" NHL teams and they would immediately become Cup Favorites in everybody's minds.
Even IF they were to win the Cup... They would be 2011-12 Cup Champs... But they still would NOT be THE best team in hockey.
What exactly is your criteria used to determine that they are the "best team in hockey"...???
Championships...???
Scoring ability...???
Overall talent...???
Do you think that because of all the teams still in contention they have the most regular season points...???
There is no current "Best Team in hockey" because so many teams are missing just one or two pieces... I could list at least a handfull of teams that would immediately become potential "Cup Fav's" each season if they had a goalie like Lundqvist... and besides... What exactly HAVE the Rangers recently done that makes them the "best team in hockey"...??? |

#13 Posted: 5/21/2012 10:25:25 AM I was thinking while writing how Melrose and the other announcers on Hockey channel were talking about how the Kings had '' no intensity '' and their lack of '' killer instinct ''...........
It sounded to me like the Kings were one period away from being eliminated.........................
SORRY I DIDN'T ADD THAT IN..........
When I looked at the stats (and I know sometimes they don't show the whole picture..).. and compared them with the highlights, It was all Smith and Quick letting in one very bad goal and another that on any other night he would have been in better position....
Because I didn't watch the game, that's my question.... What are Melrose and the other's talking about.... Intensity, letting Phoenix back in, Kings better come out with fire and so on and so forth....
Melrose just likes to hear himself talk, he's a person and NHL channel would love for Phoenix to extend this I guess..............I was just surprised at their reaction to Kings losing a game.... |

So they just had "little bursts" of energy...???... 36 shots on goal..?. Won 33 faceoffs to 26... Maybe the pounding Phx. Has been giving them has taken it's toll..??..
Someone posted in forum interesting psychological dilemma for Kings.. With Clippers and Lakers playing first at arena and Kings waiting in wings for them, there may be a let-down..... |

#18 Posted: 5/21/2012 1:32:36 PM Tried to save you yesterday, but you were too busy telling me "to seek a shady area and drink plenty of water". You could have had a share of that +330, after all it was the Biggest Play of the Hockey Season. Phoenix is not Vancouver, using that Series correlation, will get you another loser. The second Biggest Play of the Hockey Season, is Phoenix, on Tuesday. You can bet your sister's last pair of clean underwear on Phoenix +115 |
