Washington Capitals head coach Dale Hunter has decided he will not return to the team as head coach next season.
Capitals general manager George McPhee confirmed the news Monday morning.
"It wasn't unexpected," McPhee told reporters.
SOMETHING "Goofy" here

He will get offers in my opinion. He took a team a lot further than most gave them a chance to go. |

that country club has needed a shake up for a long time now. Hunter is a nasty person IF you don't do what he wants in his system. San Hoser and that lineup of loafs could use some of that |

#17 Posted: 5/14/2012 1:42:59 PM I don't think he is comfortable in the NHL spotlight being a coach. But I imagine if the Caps got past the Rangers it would be a different story. |

#19 Posted: 5/14/2012 1:58:08 PM I think the Caps tried to keep it under wraps, but there was a lot of discord on that team in the playoffs. It's amazing they made it as far as they did with Hunter clashing with some of his top players. Semin, Ovechkin were not performing up to expectations, and AO was lucky to dodge a suspension. I guess I understand why Hunter wouldn't want to return and face an entire season of that crap. He'd probably drop dead from a coronary from all the stress. Doesn't even sound like McPhee is surprised so this thing was probably a long time coming.

#20 Posted: 5/14/2012 2:37:46 PM i agree. ovie went to mngmt. tho he played hard you could tell he was biting his toungue on being unhappy with his playing time. takes total sacrifice from everyone to win the cup which is the toughest to win of the 4 major team sports. maybe that why teams like the caps and the sharks won't win for a while. and advice to hunter stay clear of the country club in san jose. you may go to jail after cracking somebody or have a breakdown. this is the biggest box team in the league. |
