#1 Posted: 5/11/2012 2:07:48 AM 2003- up 2games to 0 vs Tampa Bay, Caps lost four in a row, losing to the Lightning in the first round
2008- Lost game 7 to Phil Flyers in DC in round one
2009- Capitals beat the Rangers in 7 games to move to second round....they lost to Pittsburgh in Game 7 in D.C.
2010- Lost game 7 to Montreal at home...was third loss in a row
2011- beat the Rangers in 5 games first round only to get swept by the Lightning in round two
Capitals have bad history in Game 7's. Last game 7 they won was against the Rangers...can they do it this year????

#3 Posted: 5/11/2012 2:50:54 AM This is a completely different Caps team. Only relevant game 7 is the one they won on the road vs Boston most "experts" said they couldnt win.
They were supposed to lose after two heartbreaking losses this series and won the game after both times. I dont know why people keep on trying to find reasons to see them lose. They finally are showing character after years of choking. |

#4 Posted: 5/11/2012 4:45:36 AM ...
on washington here, as much as hank lundqvist could be the difference-maker i can't overlook the fact that caps won three in defending champs' barn in opening round series win over B's (4th was 1-0 OT loss) so they have established a strong pedigree for winning OTR...
i also like the way dale hunter is handling his players, call it a hunch on my part but im sensing a real positive karma there...torts by comparison comes off to me as a white-knuckle attilla the hen, a guy wwith a sandpaper personality that doesn't easily convince guys to go thru a wall for you...i shake my head watching him chew guys out in-game for miscues in a fashion that IMO doesn't lend itself to a real positive team mindset...
hunter's unorthodox use of ovechkin, a huge gamble, has been masterful...lost in all the pent-up furore over reduced minutes during the series for ovie is the fact that with the season now on the line the guy is fresh, and you can see he's playing with a real passion and enthusiasm; you don't witness many superstars bangin and blockin shots; this guy for my money is showing legitimate leadership, and he's a real deal...
naturally, it goes without saying holtby has to come up big in this spot...my feeling is he proved his mettle in the boston series; this is a guy who isn't gonna get rattled on the big stage...
should be a 4-star game, expecting a nail-biter all the way, caps to prevail...
whatever path u choose, GL all

#5 Posted: 5/11/2012 9:28:51 AM One of the big things I've noticed is Washington's aggressiveness on the power play............ They are not giving Rangers much time to ''set up''.... The killers are moving out to the point, and chasing the puck............................. Anticipating the passing lanes.....
Hate to sound like a broken record, but the refs need to be consistent and call the penalties as they occur..................... |

#8 Posted: 5/11/2012 12:03:04 PM Caps finally play like team does not revolve around or depend on Ovie so they are much different. Rags may win but I think value with Caps.
Can also argue the King has a decent record of choke sessions when it counts as well. |

#10 Posted: 5/11/2012 8:21:55 PM they're a different team(new coach/goalie, new style of play), I think they got a really good chance to win in the Garden tomorrow

#12 Posted: 5/12/2012 12:13:36 AM there has been no such thing as momentum in this series. rangers have been a very gritty team all year and i look for them to find a way. kreider needs to be re-united on the callahan line. rangers 4-2.... |
