As for me, the team can do absolutely no wrong at all by dumping Van Riemsdyk in the offseason. The guy is a total 'bump on the log' kind of player. In plain english he's totally lazy and useless and the Flyers can hopefully pursuade another club to accept this negative cog they have on their roster at the moment. Secondly, Matt Carle's contract is up I believe and I dearly hope Holmgrem has enough sense to shake hands with this guy for the last time and ship him out of town. Carle is a definite error-prone bomb continuously waiting to explode and has on defense for the Flyers on numerous occasions ths year and seasons past as well. I will be very surprised if Jagr returns and quite frankly it wouldn't bother me one bit if he either dons another uniform or none at all next season. The club has a solid youthful nucleus up front with a few vets sprinkled in to provide the necessary offense. On defense the team may have to seek out another starter on the backend and that's hopefully where Riemsdyk fits in. Maybe trading the useless lazy lug to Toronto for Schenn's brother for example, providing of course the Leafs don't see in him what I've just described. Lastly Bryzgalov will most definitely need to have a better year now that he's played a full season in Philadelphia. Anyway overall a good year imo but a disappointing ending after eliminating Pissburgh in round one. I honestly believe that six-day layoff hurt the club whereas the Devils were able to jump right into the fire after a short two-day break following their emotional seven-game series against Florida. See you guys next season & in the meantime: GO FLYERS GO!!!!!

See ya JVR, do what you can to get a Dman, Suter or Weber (he's gonna cost them).  Team had a good season, great learning experience for the young guys, nothing but good things ahead

I will take your WHOLE TEAM ex for Bryz in Pittsburgh right now and give you ours including Crosby, Malkin, Staal AND that choking SIEVE Fleury.

HOW friggin EMBARRASSING is it to get BEAT by the Flyers only to have them LOSE in 5, which was a basic SWEEP after game one, to the God Damn DEVILS!!!

it just shows what  bunch of PUSSIES are on the Penguins esp on DEFENSE and in GOAL!!!

As a Flyers fan your biggest concern has to be Bryzgalov. They signed him for reason alone was to get better tending and it didn't happen. darn he looks so disinterested in the nets it's brutal.

Yes other players were garbage but Bryzgalov was horrible letting that many goals in.

you should have heard Milbury and JR's comments post game on NBC Sports about Bryzgalov post game. they BOTH said he's "playing like his mind isn't in the game" and they showed damn near EVERY bad goal he's given up the first two rounds and esp against the Devils with the "crowning glory" being the Clarkson goal tonight.

they basically wondered HOW the HELL can a washed up backup like Smith in Phoenix and a rookie like Holtby in Washington be STEALING GAMES and this lazy behind RUSSIAN can't even stop a BEACH BALL for BIG BUCKS!!!

pinballmonkey - I think the hockey gods smoted your Flyers because of the excessive use of the L word this season.

Ever notice that the word LOCK and LAME both start with the letter L?

i started dying when milbury said they would be playing golf and bryz would be playing with his star wars figues

that team needs a goalie in the worst way they would still be playing. even my rangers had no problem lighting them up all year. They should make a big move for luongo... we all know hes not the greatest goalie but hes that much better than bryz or bob

really people?

Bryz was shaky throughout the year but had nothing to do with the Flyers' demise this series.

darn!

Things are promising.  I dump Carle.  I have no use for JVR either, but don't know how easy he will be to move.  Jagr had a strong regular season, don't know what the darn happened to him this series.

Love Kimmo but don't know how much he has left.  Keep Coby and Mez for sure...

Would love to get a defenseman that can shoot the puck.  Let's not go crazy over this series though.  garbage happens.

BRYZ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DEVILS SERIES....ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE DIDN'T WATCH OR IS CLUELESS

that being said, I hate that he is signed for 9 more years....I hated the contract before he ever put the jersey on

Carle sucks, and he is a goner....good riddance........Pronger, Brierre, Coburn, and JVR have disturbing contracts also.......for all of you looking to trade JVR, good luck..,..it's not going to happen....nobody will take his contract right now, for what he offered this year

Jagr, Carle, Lappy and Kubina take about 11 million off the cap....raises to JVR, Coburn and Grossman already eat up about 6 mill of that.......I don't know the way things work, but they might get the Pronger money, because we all think he's done, right? (I would hope not, but that was another terrible contract by Holmgrenn at that age)

JVR is UNTRADEABLE, unless you find an idiot.....they will have to move younger, cheaper forwards for denfensmen if thats what the plans are

Maybe Bryzgalov should stop trying to handle the puck as if his name is Brodeur or Hextall.

NJ was just the better TEAM and not only frustrated the Flyers in every which way... they also frustrated me completely.

Yup a real leader. Couldn't even stay sober for one friggin week! Guys a friggin drunk with a garbage, selfish attitude.

Now Dustin Brown, yes I would love to have him. That's the Kings leader in case you don't have a clue. If the Kings had been successful in their attempts to trade Brown at the trade deadline, they would already be out of these playoffs and Mike Richards would be high on Oxy and getting hammered somewhere.

JVR for Luke Schenn? Flyers would be getting hosed on that one. I'm sure he has more value in this league just based off his potential. I'd love if the Habs could get him.

I remember he was everyone's "Sleeper" pick in fantasy drafts this year. Mine too. Luckily I got stuck with my 2nd sleeper, Pacioretty!

LMAO at all you guys talking about trading JVR.... no way in hell the Flyer's trade him, unlike you fans management has a clue and realizes that one bad playoff run doesn't mean you just ship out a 23 year old winger..... If the Flyers want to rid themselves of JVR my guess is that 29 teams will be waiting by the phone ready to make an offer.

Agreed  Bryzgalov allowed 31 goals in 9 playoff games with a  3.54 goals-against average!! Flyers gave this sieve a nine year $51 million contract to carry Philly to the Stanley Cup.

Paul Holmgrem  should be fired for signing this weak behind Russian goalie to a long term contract.

Luongo is another overrated and overpaid sieve too and not the answer to Flyers ongoing carousel of new batch of garbage goalies year end and year out.

There is no way for Philly to get Luongo. They are stuck with Brzgalov. Nobody would trade for him at that money and obviously its impossible to have both.

I am surprised they never gave Bobrovsky a shot.

Bryzgalov wasn't great but he wasn't the reason they lost vs NJ either. Just at some point the goalie needs to steal a game, something he couldn't do.

Devs didn't block as many as they normally do

yeah great block by simmonds screening the goalie and laying down to block a shot instead they dumbass would rather puck tip off his stick and go in for the first goal
