My "Game of the Year" was a bad pick. Everyone has a bad pick sometimes, and I'll be the first one to admit it. It was a toss up between the St. Louis Blues and New Jersey Devils. I sided with the Devils based on how desperate they were for a win - coupling that will how flagrantly bad the Washington Capitals have been doing this season. I thought they would win in OT or a shootout and that it would be a close game. Boy was I wrong. I should have gone with the St. Louis Blues, for those of you who have been reading my posts know I took them twice in a row as one of my picks and are a pretty decent team.
I have been reading the chit chat in my threads regarding the loss and that it was a joke, bad pick, etc. No, it was not a joke but it was indeed a bad pick. With this being said, I sincerely would like to apologize to everyone who bet on my GOY which lost. I dropped a dime on it myself and believe me it - it hurts.
My general consensus is that the forums are full of genuine people. Good people with a great heart and made of outstanding character. For those of you who backed me up and defended me when others wanted to throw stones at me, I thank you kindly. I'm not going to mention names but most of you are my good friends here on covers and I thank you for your support. On the other side of the coin, there were those who threw rocks and stones and pointed the finger at me for losing $$$ on the pick. I never put a gun to your head and made you bet on the game....so just remember that. Like I said in my "Today's Plays" post, "Lay off, tail, or fade. It's your money. Remember that."
The posting done by logueboy titled "I am doing my GOY like LVL" where he states "I promise it will not be a blowout" is the ultimate sign up disrespect and signifies lack of character. I realize you lost $500 on the game logueboy but a thread such as yours rings tones of bitterness for the loss and quite frankly I'm shocked you would stoop to such a level of immaturity.....bro.
One more thing I would like to mention is that GOY's are common with January 1st, 2011 peeking its head around the corner. I would like to congratulate the gentleman in the NBA forum who won his game of the year on the Dallas Mavericks +3 vs Orlando Magic who won outright. I agreed with the play after handicapping the game myself and tailed him. On the other side of the coin, there are people who I fade if I disagree with them - despite their stellar winning record. I do pride myself on my winning NHL record, but learned a lesson here of not to make a GOY on a team with a losing record ever again. I also once made a 3 team parlay in the NBA asking everyone to do it which included my Game of the Month which won. The game won and the 3 team parlay hit. I was ecstatic. But the opposite can be said of this NHL game last night. It's part of the process. There will be highs and lows, and we all need to adjust to this.
I'm over it and am going to move on & put this bad pick behind us. There are too many wonderful people on here and I enjoy sharing my plays with them along with offering them my support on their own picks. The positive feedback is rewarding and I feel I can make a significant contribution to the forum with my plays and offer support to others who post their plays here in the NHL forums or another forum.
In summary, I would like to apologize once again for the bad pick on NJ and will move on from here. I'd like to thank everyone for their support and wish everyone the Happiest Holiday Season ever. The year 2011 I hope should be fruitful and bountiful for everyone, and I sincerely hope that everyone has a profitable season in 2011 - no matter what sport you bet on.
Glad I got that off my chest and I thank you all for reading this.
