mike smith has been diagnosed with a "minor" sprain of the medial collateral ligament of his left knee, according to a report in the st. petersburg times. He is expected to be out two to three weeks.
mark eaton could return to the lineup wednesday versus tampa Bay, according to Newsday.
mark eaton was able to participate in a full practice tuesday, and with the Islanders losing fellow defenseman mike mottau for the season
the islanders placed dipietro (knee) on injured reserve tuesday newsday reports
