I just heard through the grape vine that Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard is out for a while with a broken left foot.
The Boston Herald is reporting that he is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, which sucks for Boston because it has stumbled out of the gates after such a great 2008-09 campaign. The Bruins are averaging only 2.7 goals per game and Savard was their leading scorer with seven points so far.
The team’s GM told reporters that Savard actually injured his foot in preseason practice and was playing with the injury in the first seven games of the year before re-aggravating the injury in a 4-1 loss to Phoenix Saturday. Boston is also missing winger Milan Lucic, who is on the IR with a broken finger.
The Bruins are -210 home favorites versus the Predators tonight. The total is set at 5.5 goals. Boston is 4-3 over/under this season.
