#1 Posted: 4/22/2009 9:59:21 PM Damn you, you marvelous bastard you. He is a magician this series, again he wins a game pretty much on his own and puts me down for this series just after I got even on it again and Varlamov I bragged for you my you Russian friend and you...I mean..what was that 2nd goal?...sigh.....I must pay my respects to King Henrik.........
Everones thoughts on game 5? I still can't see Washington losing 3 on home ice here, not looking past that now but I gotta believe they find a way to at least take the nest one at home...Thoughts here? |

You are 100% correct this series is FAR from over, but they have done nothing? At TIMES, they have played great team defense. |

#5 Posted: 4/22/2009 10:18:48 PM Lundqvist has been out of his mind and Washington has zero goaltending...Balance that even a little bit and Washington swept them or won in 5 minimum IMO. |

The guy stood on his head tonight, but to say the Rangers are doing nothing means that the Caps must have scored on themselves quite a bit.
Next game will be fast and furious no doubt and Ovie finally has one in the goal column. |

well they deflected one in their own net tonight and literally handed the other one to them.

#8 Posted: 4/22/2009 10:24:46 PM Not scored on themselves but there goaltending is second best only to shooting at an empty net for the Rangers bro...Hey not knocking them, goalie is part of the team a huge one and good for you guys for having a guy that can steal games cause that is what he is doing but in contrast Caps have no goalie almost literally, like what was that second goal? LOL>.....He might as well just have shot it in his own net and we won't even talk about Theodore..... |

I agreed that TONIGHT they did a lot of things wrong. No doubt about it. But to say they have done nothing in the SERIES isn't right at all. In the 2 games in Washington, they played terrific team defense, limiting the Caps GOOD scoring chances to bad angle shots. |

#10 Posted: 4/22/2009 10:43:01 PM Lundqvist is great, but nobody seems to be giving credit to all of those shot blockers. I lost count of how many shots didn't get through in the last 4 minutes of the game. Has happened all series too.

#15 Posted: 4/23/2009 1:11:59 AM The best thing is when a guy like Brodeur wins 3 cups the Rangers fans give him no credit telling us that he plays behind a great D, Lundqvist wins 3 playoff games. 2 of them because his D was great and 1 because the other goalie handed him the game they go on and on like he is the greatest thing the NHL has ever seen.

First off let me say that I never talk shit about Brodeur as he is an all time great.
But with that being said, it seems as if you use that reasoning not to give Lundquist credit. I agreed with you on a couple things such as the Rangers defenseman playing great, blocking shots and whatnot. They won the first 2 games because of great defensive play in there own zone no doubt about it, but they won TONIGHT solely because of Henrik.

#17 Posted: 4/23/2009 1:24:33 AM He did play a good game tonight. The Caps did hit some posts though and the Rangers D I thought played another game like they did in Game 2. I think he is an above average goalie and is doing what he needs to do to win a 1st round series

#19 Posted: 4/23/2009 9:12:31 AM First off..just like most Devils fans, worrying about the Rangers more than their own team.Geez just accept no matter how good you are you will always be the red headed step child of this area.
Fatso is definitely an all time great but you have to admit the system they run helped. That same system while succesful is the reason hockey isnt even considered a major sport anymore. It went from one of the peaks in 1994 to a slow crawl led by the Devils clutch and grab trap which basically took the sport off the map in my opinion.
I'm not saying they play that way now but from 95 till the strike year soccer had more offense than hockey...
Henry has dominated heads up with Marty the last few years..i guess thats being overated too. |

#20 Posted: 4/23/2009 9:15:12 AM Oh and enough with the "hitting the posts" crap...i recall the Rangers hitting a couple in Washington and that game 3 post hit by Callahan that would of tied the game...

I wrote a nice thread about your Caps and Varlamov and his decent play in the first two games and he will be a good one but last night he looked awful even on pucks just going to the corner I thought he was gonna piss his pants..He gift wrapped the winning goal last night for the Rags.I mean what was that? I don't even know wtf he was doing and yes pretty close to Zero goaltending, the Caps are playing to protect the net and not being able to force offense as much as they would like. Imagine if you guys had a soldi netminder and coudl just ruch the puck with abandon knowing you had a guy back there who could stop odd man rushed?? They are playing to protect him. I like him but last night he handed the game away period, you cannot give away free goals in the playoffs especially in must win games or your going golfing early period. |

Yes finally someone says it! I have to say NJDevils being a Flames fan i only wish to have Brodeur or Luongo in my net! Yes we have Kipper but he aint Marty. Marty has won on all levels NHL, International, Jr. He even breaks the best goalies of all time i Mr. Roy records. Yet still the Rangers fans say he is shit. How can any hockey fan not say he is the best goalie of all time is just a joke in itself. Forget his personally life we all make mistakes and do stupid things in life, but the one thing Marty does is win like no other goalie in NHL history! If you ask any GM or COACH and evn PLAYER what goalie they would put in net in a big game its Marty hands down! Lundqvist has been outstanding in the series, but to compare him to Marty is funny and just plain stupid! The only goalie who you compare to Marty and has a shot to break Brodeur's record and could be the best goalie of all time plays in Vancouver and that is Roberto Luongo. He is the next great goalie! If my Flames had either one of them we would have won a few more cups! |
