Seems like some kind of stomach virus or something is running through the Wild team

Just returned from the Wild’s morning skate. Defenseman Martin Skoula is the latest player to be hit by the most disgusting illness in history. But I won’t tell you the details during lunchtime. I’ll wait ’til later. 

Its running its way through the team. Stephane Veilleux, who missed the Bruins game, painted me a detailed picture, and let’s just say, that picture won’t make its way into the Walker Art Center.

Skoula’s out tonight, which will hurt bigtime. He’s been playing big, steady minutes, and now the Wild will have to play two rookies tonight, something Jacques Lemaire was not happy with. He again indicted Reitz this morning while praising John Scott. And with Marek Zidlicky just getting back from the plague, Brent Burns, Kim Johnsson and Nick Schultz might want to eat their vitamins. Get used to seeing a lot of Nos. 8, 5 and 55 in your TV screen tonight. A lot of them.

Along the road less traveled...
Florida comes home tonite from a four game road trip where they managed two wins against teams drowning in loses (Pens and Leafs). Florida has not had a stellar season at home winning just 8 games at BankAtlantic Center. Carolina has a better road record (9-6) that the Panthers do at home. The Canes are sporting four straight wins and 7 of their last 10. Ward has been impressive in net of late with a 1.50 GAA during this winning streak. The PP is clicking nicely at 5 goals in 17 tries.I like CAROLINA.

Two teams that have not played each other since February of 2007 will re-introduce each other tonite in the desert.Phoenix has been shutout in the last two games and in 3 of their last five games. They have gone 0-25 on the power play during this scoring slump. If you can't score, you can't win. Tampa Bay have managed seven road wins this season, three of those coming in the past two weeks. Their modest three game winning streak in late December was followed by a three game losing streak that they managed to break with a road win in Atalnta on Sunday. I think the Bolts have another road win in them. I like TAMPA BAY.
