Noticed a lot of people are venting about it and I definitely agree with you folks about Odom.  I was watching the game on TV and I was a bit intrigued how Lamar Odom finished the game. Didn't have anything on this game, was actually flipping between this and the local news. Anyways just wanted to share my crazy thinking here.

Throughout the game the few times he took the ball aggressively to the basket was when they need the points because the Spurs had made the game close. That's fine.

However his play in the last 2 minutes really draws some suspicion.

With that being said, on comes the conspiracy theory lol.

4:53 Lamar Odom made 2 point shot
3:46 Lamar Odom made 2 point shot
3:11 Lamar Odom 3 point miss
1:36 Lamar Odom 2 point miss
1:33 Lamar Odom 2 point miss (Michael Finley fouls)
1:33 Lamar Odom misses FT
1:33 Lamar Odom makes FT
0:10 Lamar Odom misses FT
0:10 Lamar Odom misses FT

When he scored his basket at 4:53 it made the score from 93-86 to 95-86. The game was still in doubt. When he scored his basket at 3:46 it pushed the score from 97-86 to 99-86 pretty much stretching it out and at that time mark imo closes the game.

Now ok, the game was over and whatnot BUT what honestly caught my eye was the fact suddenly Lamar takes over the ball and starts doing his own thing. The miss at 1:36 was off a drive to the basket but for those that saw it didn't it seem to u like as he reached up to the basket to lay the ball in that he instead angles his wrist over as if flicking the ball to the basket? The miss at 1:33 was on a fastbreak in which he drove the ball at Michael Finley and he got up and over Finley and again instead of just letting the ball come off his fingertips like a natural fingerroll (which we seem him do all the time) he again angles his wrist a bit and again winds up flicking the ball off the backboard. Odd that with a big lead and the game clock winding down that he'd drive it one-on-one. I could see if it was a breakaway wide open dunk then yah, we see it all the time. But Finley had gotten back on D and Odom still went right at him...in fact I believe that's why Finley was jawing at him after he fouled him because he was upset that Lamar was still attacking. However, if Odom had not attacked being up 9 with 1 minute left, who's to say how much time would've run off the clock? Whatever the case he made just 1 of 2 FTs. Now, with 10 seconds left didn't it seem like Odom backed himself into Brent Barry a bit? I understand why Barry reached in and fouled, cause shit...if a guy was slowly dribbling back into me I'd go for it too. Almost as if he was enticing Barry to just foul him. It seemed like Barry was going to kind of just hover over him and let the game end, but as Odom drew closer he figures to just try and reach in. And he proceeds to miss both FTs, the 2nd one with horrible form as he drew his right leg back an awhile lot and had completely zero follow-through on his shot.

It just seemed out of sync to me the way Odom finished the game.

Hehe...came up with all that folks...and I'm sober! LOL! Well, gnite everyone!

I will say that even prior to those missed free throws he was so lackadaisical(sp) when he would go in for a layup and it honestly appeared he missed 2 easy layups on purpose. One layup never even hit the backboard or the net for that matter. He definitely took care of some shaven business tonight. Maybe he owed a favor to the mob.

Even though you're the CEO of douchebaggery, I would agree with that comment.

I didn't have money on Lakers either but you are dead on!!     The ref had to also call that foul so he was in bed with Odom.

Yah, just wanted to share. It just seemed really out of sorts how the last 2 minutes were played out by Odom.

People will say "So you're saying it was a fix? Hey, if Finley doesn't hit the shot with 2 secs left then the Lakers still cover so no way was it a fix."

I agree, BUT that certainly doesn't eliminate the fact Odom's role could've just been to "do whatever YOU can to get the cover in the end".

Tim Donaghy did not fix the actual game by making completely biased calls but instead provided people with inside information about relationships and viewpoints.

There is more than one type of fix and more than one way to fix a game right?

searchwarrant your username says it all. All your life you had the cops knocking on the door to your shack screaming search warrant..search warrant. Funny how those 2 words stayed with you your whole life and now you even made a username out of it. Try breaking free mentally of that prison because until you do you will be always the total mental midget that you are!

you guys are ignoring the fact that lamar odom in general has very little thinking when it comes to his game.. he ALWAYS plays this way, jsut doing his own thing out on the court no matter the game situation, which is why he's bounced around from team to team

Honestly, you havent watched many laker games over the past couple years.  Odom does this crap all the time.  He always tries to do one on one crap and takes a lot of horrible shots all the time towards the end of games.  Nothing new here!

Odom, like many other players in the NBA, just don't act very professionally at times. I don't think he is involved in a fix; if he was, he would have gone like 2 for 16 with 7 turnovers (how can he be sure that the spurs would score on the final play?) he might have enticed barry to foul him in order to pad his stats but he fucked up the free throws. Anyhow, it was a bad beat...reminds me of how I was fucked by houston the first game of the year (12-point lead with less than 2 to go)....anything can happen in garbage-time nba basketball....that's why you should never bet 10% of your bankroll on any one game, no matter how good it looks to you...shit happens...key player breaks an arm, garbage-time shit like tonite, etc.

I think I saw an episode on "Cops" of them beating on Ricardo's shack yelling that very thing......

looked at my pvr and I would also add my observations as I lost some cash on this game.....

Odom missed his 3 pt shot at 3:00 mark with shot clock at 5, it did not draw iron. Lakers up 13

Walton way overshot 3 pter with 10 sec on clock at 2:27 mark 3 Lakers are wide open for shot. Lakers up 10

Odom casually gets 1 handed defensive rebound and has Finley reach up and take it away while he is showing off his 1 handed grab at 1:28 mark. Bowan nails a 3. Lakers now up 9

Odom completely misses basket on layup at 1:21 mark with 18 seconds on shot clock, but he was definitely fouled on the play with the ref standing right next to the play. Lakers still up 9

Odom again misses basket on layup at 1:09 he was pulled down by Finley. He was visually upset as Finley seemed to start talking trash to him. Odom only makes 1 of 2 free throws Lakers up 10

Lakers are up 7 with 21 sec left Kobe dribbles down court. Passes to Fisher with 17 sec SA does not intentionally foul either. Fisher with no pressure on him passes to Odom with 10 sec left & Barry fouls him immediately. Odom misses both free throws pretty badly.

Barry's final shot was contested by Odom.

My thoughts are this Odom should have not tried the last 2 layups. Most players are taught to retreat if the defender is back and run the clock down when defending a huge lead. The shot clock was full on both attempts. The only thing I can say in his favor is that he did try to defend the last shot. So I agree he is just a plain dumb ass player. Yes that is the one consistant trait of Lamar Odom. He is similar to Arenas except can't score as many points.

The other thing is SA seemed to just try to cover the spread in the closing seconds, not win the game. How many times have we seen teams do this. This is a normal occurrance in the NBA and its difficult to get used to. I just wish I could be the recepiant some time.

only at covers. tough losses happen in all sports. if you think its fixed your an idiot for betting on it to begin with and deserve to lose. move on to tomorrow, nobody said losing would be easy but at least don't lose and be a whining baby about it.

My theory:

Place your bet don't watch the game :  No moose no fixing !

Nothing is easy to figure out my friends!
