Game 1: 5/13 in 4th quarter + OT Game 2: 2/12 in 4th quarter + OT, 1/11 if we remove the uncontested layup at the end of the game Game 3: 3/8 in 4th quarter Game 4: 1/3 in 4th quarter
that brings us to a total of 11/36 (30,6%), and I'm counting that layup here to make him look better.

Thanks fellas, that helps. If the media is voting (and they love LBJ) I really don't think Curry gets it again (if the Dubs win). It will be Iggy or LBJ (imo) if the Dubs win. Only way Curry gets it is if he goes off in the next two games (we're talking 30 points). He has played average to poor by his standards. He also won the regular season MVP (which was more than enough, really).

Dont forget, you are assuming LBJ continues to put up monster numbers. Thats no guarantee, his fg % is already suffering and who knows about his point avg. I think Curry gets it with an outside chance that Iggy gets it. As long as curry avgerages more than 22 points a game i think he gets it. Obviously this is just my opinion. Not hating on LBJ but the guy has to do so much for the Cavs and he is looking tired out there and he has to shoot difficult shots which is affecting his fg%. Its just so hard to win the MVP on a losing team in the finals.

MS, everything is Warriors with you these days, and I understand, but just try to be objective here or better yet, think outside the box. Curry might get it, but he has not elevated his game and/or been the difference maker in this series. He really hasn't (except for some key free throws in game 1 in OT). The two guys making a difference for their teams and elevating their games are the guys going against each other (LBJ and Iggy). Now all that can change if Curry ups his level, but for now the narrative that's being written by the media (the people voting on the MVP!) is that this series will be decided by the Iggy/LBJ matchup:

Lol i am objective. im a realist. I give LBJ his props, and i think I might even bet Cavs spreads in the next two games.
I do agree with you on almost everything you have said. I just dont think LBJ will win it. History is against the mvp coming from the losing team. Can lbj, who seems to be slowing down, keep it up or exceed what he did in the first 3 games? He would have to do that and Curry would have to keep playing at a lower level and iggy would need to tank his performance too.

I think LBJ should win it if, like you say BB, he can put up another huge performance (or two).
Let's say Warriors win Game 5, and then in Game 6 LBJ has another 40-12-10 and they win.
Even if Warriors win in 7, LBJ should be the MVP in my opinion, assuming he has another huge game / it goes to 7. The simple numbers and advanced metrics (AND Vegas) have shown that the Cavs are a HUGE underdog against these Warriors. The eye test has also shown that LeBron is doing absolutely everything stat-wise and leadership-wise to get better results than can be reasonably expected (I'm sure bob disagrees here).
Say what you want about the fellas at ESPN and CBS Sports, but pretty much every single one of them was shocked by what they were seeing by the LeBron's Cavs through 3 games. And rightfully so.

If the Cavs lose, LBj needs one more great performance or simply getting the series to a 7th game would be enough (imo). Iggy will also be in the running if he keeps this up. Curry (imo) has done nothing to even warrant him being in the conversation. Oh yeah, he was dominated/outplayed by an un-drafterd player in games 2 and 3 and threw away crucial passes. If the Cavs stick to their game plan, which is to let anyone but Curry beat them, then I don't see how he goes off and/or takes over any of the remaining games. It will be up to the role players and Klay to step up and Klay ain't gettin the MVP. So it is either LBJ, Iggy or Curry (with Curry having to raise his game) for MVP if the Dubs win.

Now that's a thoughtful response one can hang their hat on. Exactly. It's is 1 on 5 out there. The Warriors are like a pack of hyenas fighting against a wounded but powerful and dangerous male lion. Everyone with 2 eyes (except MS) can see that! And that's the story being written by the very media that will vote on the MVP.

Also think about this, LBJ to win the MVP is at +200 while Cavs to win the series is at +325. So vegas believes the Cavs can lose and LBJ can still win the MVP. Otherwise, those lines make no sense, and you are better off betting cavs futures if, like money shot, you think LBJ can't win the MVP unless the Cavs win.
Also Warriors are -400 to win the series and Curry is -150 for the MVP. Yesterday, when the Cavs were up 2-1 they were at -105 to win the series and LBJ was at -155 to win the MVP, that made a lot more sense. All this tells me that vegas thinks there is a good chance Curry doesn't get the MVP even if the Warriors win.

I'm seeing LeBron for MVP at +160. Surely some value there.
Wow. Five Dimes has him at +200. But other places have him around +170. So Cavs series price at +320 and LBJ to win MVP at +170. Also, the field vs Curry is +120 but I think you are better off betting LBJ and Iggy rather than the field. Iggy at +600 or so and LBJ at +200 (at 5 dimes). Unless someone else emerges, I don't see anyone but one of those 3.

oh come on!! lol. Im giving LBJ all the credit, hes done a masterful job in this series. I just dont think he will get it. Ive been wrong before, and Ill be wrong a million times again so if hes MVP if the Cavs lose, then ill tip my hat and say i was wrong. No big deal to me. I just think it will be harder than you guys think for him to get it. Like i said, only one other player has ever done it...

Two articles for your consideration. The 1st makes the case for LBJ winning the MVP even if the Cavs lose (though they'll probably have to lose in 7). And the other for Iggy as MVP.

"Otherwise, James — as brilliant as he’s been — may become the first finals MVP in a losing cause since Jerry West in 1969."

Even the coach (not just the media) is touting Iggy over Steph:
On Thursday, Kerr, Iguodala and the Warriors got plenty of payoff.
Kerr got payoff for pacing Iguodala for the past several months; his 22 points were more than in any game in the 2014-15 regular season or 2015 postseason, and his 37 points over the past two games represent his top two-game stretch. And he's doing that while defending the NBA's most dominant player, LeBron James.
"I mean, he looks great out there," Kerr said, stating the obvious. "He's been our best player through four games."

In fact, I'd go so far as to say (if you like the Warriors to win the series) you are better off betting the field or Iggy (at + money) to win the MVP over Curry. The Warriors (if they win) will have won because of their superb team play (and the depth of their team) over and against the great individual performance of LBJ. They will not have won it (at least not thus far) because of Curry. The media will want to acknowledge that (if they decide not to give it to LBJ) and will go with Iggy, who represents the unselfishness of the Warriors team, as he took on a lesser role this year for the good of the team. To give the MVP to Curry, who has not even been the best player on his own team (according to his coach), would be absurd at this point (imo).

Van Gundy was lobbying hard last night for LBJ as MVP. Iggy shot himself out of the running. Too bad, as he was right there. It is now a two horse race (imo). The last 3 minutes of game 5 (after Iggy had essentially iced the game for the dubs, except the missed free throws) put Curry back in the running. Too funny.
