Sometimes you want to bet against the predictability, that you want to bet on the right side and the right situational matchups...
But sometimes the "right" side is not always the right one, and unpredictability can trick you into believing the impossible can be possible but the unpredictable turned out to be predictable after all...
This sums up the Clippers playoff season, a team that nobody thought could beat the Spurs due to their history of choking, then they go up 3-1 in the series against the Rockets seemingly on the verge of going to their first ever trip to the Western Conference Finals and putting their history of choking finally behind them.. or so it seemed... then their past came back to haunt them. the chokes on you Clippers!
so now we are moving on to a rather boring and predictable Conference Finals after all, a battle of #1s vs #2s as it was meant to be. If all goes accordingly.. it should be the Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. two teams that have been heavily favored throughout the season to win it all.
i have only two bets remaining for the playoffs. Warriors championship futures at +250 and Cavs futures at +160. Both made in March. Not terrific value by any means but one of these surely has to hit.. and i would prefer the Warriors to win it all. If only to make back half of the money i lost on these disappointing semi-finals which have been nothing but a tease. hints of playoff basketball excitement only to be halted by the referee whistle killing the flow and competitive nature of the game...

So you created a new account, so you can post your feelings about another poster on a completely different forum?
I'm guessing you don't make much money. And/or are not very intelligent. Just a guess, because I'm surrounded by people who make a lot of money and are very intellectual. And they all find much more productive things to do with their time than create a brand new account on one forum, to express how they feel about a person on a completely different forum. All the work to sign up for the new screen name, and post this.
You are a dedicated person with not much going for them.

Just put some money down on the Cavs series bet. Don't see how in the helll LeBron does not go to the Finals it's been handed to him on a silver platter. You expect me to think the Hawks finally turn on the switch after struggling in the first two rounds? I think LBJ would like to get some payback on the former Spur assistant turned Hawks head coach for ruining his opportunity to 3peat.
Hawks struggled on the boards against the Wizards, and the Cavs will pose a more serious problem with their size. Tristan Thompson and Mozgov will eat the Hawks alive on the offensive boards. Kyrie doesn't have to play. LBJ and JR will score at will. All the momentum is on the Cavs right now.
Wouldn't be surprised if Cavs pulled a Chicago on the Hawks. Let the Hawks win game 1 as a feeling out type game and giving the Hawks false hope, then make the necessary adjustments and sweep the next four games. However they play this out I think the Cavs move on and series bet is the way to go at a reasonably priced -220, like I said if Hawks win game 1 you will get a better bargain on the Cavs but why not jump on it now. Could always tack on more and add -150 or whatever it'll be to the existing -220

There have been 10 NBA Finals matchups since 1980 featuring two #2 seeds
Lakers vs Sixers
Lakers vs Celtics(3 times in the 80's)
Bulls vs Blazers
Bulls vs Sonics
Bulls vs Jazz(twice)
Lakers vs Pacers 2000
Lakers vs Celtics 2008
Good stuff to know and keep in perspective because it doesn't happen often . 10 seasons out of 25? Hard for me to imagine seeing Warriors vs Hawks in the Finals...

you make it sound like there is no way in hell hawks win this series like its already set in stone cavs are going to finals. they could but how can u be so sure

Kyrie doesn't have to play???
Wow. Come on. This is just outlandish and wholly misguided. This is a 60 win team with home court that swarmed Lebron and took the season series 3-1 over the Cavs. Hawks know how to frustrate him.
They'll do the same thing again except this time, the Cavs won't have love to stretch the floor and might have kyrie in and out for long stretches. Dellavadova isn't going to give you 19 points every night.
And the Hawks struggled with the Wizards? What about the Cavs struggling with the Bulls? Games 3 4 and 5 were all decided on the last shot or within the last 20 seconds. And the Cavs were a Lebron missed jumper from going to OT on the road and going down 3-1.
I'll also add the Wizards bigs in Gortat and Nene are better all around and more seasoned than Mozgov and Thompson and the Hawks were most certainly not eaten alive by them. Their open offense and continuous ball movement will keep both those guys on their toes far more than in the Bulls series. Bulls had all kinds of injuries and then lost Taj in a crucial game 5 and stil pushed the Cavs all througout that series outside of the last game.
If you have GS and Cle at plus money, I can't see any reason why you'd eat all this chalk for the right to take the Cavs against a team much of the public is treating like chopped liver (and then say you'd add even more to it!). Calling for the Hawks to win game 1 and then the Cavs nonchalantly sweep the next 4 is ludicrous. Not sure we are watching the same two teams here man! GL but I don't get this type of bet with your futures in hand at all. If anything you should be hedging the Cavs bet, not piling on it with chalk!

you make it sound like there is no way in hell hawks win this series like its already set in stone cavs are going to finals. they could but how can u be so sure
Joe Crawford...Lebron...
Hawks might have a chance don't get me wrong they got talent but that's what I thought about my Bulls too. They had a hell of a chance to take that series but the refs didn't give them any chance in hell. Could have gone up 3-1 but at the end of the day it's all about LeBron.
Hawks will probably have a better offensive showing than the Bulls did that's what eventually killed the Bulls. Korver and Milsap need to be on their A shooting game. From what I've seen so far hasn't been encouraging.

Nope Kyrie doesn't have to play. The rest of the team has stepped up their game. Kyrie played great in the beginning of the Celtic series but has been ineffective since with all the foot problems and they are still winning without Love.
The Bulls played good for games 1, 3 and 4. There's no question we had game 4 in the bag and series at 3-1. The refs set up LBJ for that game winner and they got lucky. From there on the momentum completely shifted to the Cavs. The Bulls played like shitt for games 5 and 6. They were lucky to get within 2 points in the last 5 minute of game 5.
As far as the Hawks dominating the Cavs in the regular season, that was early in the year when Hawks were winning games left and right. now they play iinconsistently. Korver and Millsap having trouble hitting their jumpshots. Teague and Horford are carrying this team now.. not good enough. Three of those matchups were without the current lineup of Mozgov, Shumpert and JR Smith. One of those other games was without LeBron in the lineup. You can't really draw conclusions from those games. It's all about how they are playing NOW and right now Cavs are the better team. the playoffs are a different beast compared to the regular season. Lebron has the veteran playoff experience and refs on his side. Cant win against LBJ.
Would love to play contrarian again but that burned me in the last round. And taking Cavs series cause it has better value than the Warriors series price and I believe Cavs will move on no need to hedge. Worst thing that could happen to lose both future bets is Cavs losing to the Rockets in the Finals or Warriors losing to the Hawks or see the most unappealing Finals matchup ever in Rockets vs Hawks.

Don't underestimate hawks... They didn't win 60 games off chance...
And you have warriors at +250 to win title, that's great, you should be happy no? That's almost a lock at this point.
I would love for Curry to win one.. one of my favorite players in the game. most of the stock going to Warriors futures so yes I'll be rooting for the Dubs now

Both teams have minuses (Thabdo and Love). Both can't be underestimated in terms of impact. But Love did one thing Tristan doesn't, and that is stretch the floor. And that is a very big deal for penetration, especially when you have Lebron.
But under your equation, you are disregarding Kyrie too.
The Hawks won 60 games. They have the coach of the year. They have a free flowing jump shooting style the mirrors what the Spurs do. They have home court and all the lingering injuries outside of Thabdo are healed.
On the other side of the ball:
Love out
Kyrie questionable (and his injuries will linger as they did they entire Bulls series)
That's two of their 3 best players now out or questionable. And Lebron will be swarmed so the other guys will have to step up once again against a better healthier team than the Bulls.
And you turn your nose up to that? Because....they lost 4 of 12 games to the Nets and Wizards???
And for that lineup above, you will pay -220....for the right to take knicks castaways who have heated up but can quickly cool down.
$220 to win $100.
That is insane. Even money? Take your shot. But -220??? Good lord. Suit yourself!!

I will take the harder working, harder playing and least recognized squad(other than LeBron and Kyrie) over this year's all star cast of Horford, Korver, Millsap and Teague. No doubt this is a talented group and I commend them for getting this far and finally shedding the one and done label that they are known for year in year out but can they win the big playoff game though? Forget the Wizards, forget the Nets. They will be facing Lebron, one of the best players in playoff basketball history. I still have my doubts about the Hawks
That's nice Budenholzer is coach of the year, and learned from the best under Popovich but that doesn't mean he is going to the NBA Finals. There's only 6 coaches since 1990 who were Coach of the Year and made a Finals appearance that same year. Sorry Hawks future backers I do not see them winning the championship.. that would put Budenholzer in esteemed company with the likes of Popovich, Phil Jackson, Red Auerbach and Red Holzman. Only 5 coaches have done it in the 50 years since COY started
Anyway as far as the series matchup goes, I understand that Love being out hurts the Cavs with their floor spacing and hampers Kyrie and LeBron's ability to penetrate the lanes. I understand that Demare Carroll has the physical build to challenge LeBron's physicality and strength. I understand that the Hawks are healthier now than they were two month ago... But all these points were hammered before one series ago and bears repeating. Bulls and Rose too were healthier(except Mirotic) than they had been all season before facing Cavs How will Cavs deal with the loss of Love against the Bulls? They can't space the floor, they lose one of their best outside shooters etc etc. The Bulls by all means should have had the Cav's number but the Gasol injury in game 3, and the refs siding with the Cavs in game 4 was the turning point in the series. Whose to say that the Cavs won't get the favorable calls in this one too? What if Carroll gets into foul trouble early..LeBron takes over.. game over?
I think series will be decided by whose the best jump shooting team cause there's no way the Hawks can challenge the Cavs inside with those twin towers and Cavs will have trouble penetrating so they'll settle for the jumper too. Sure the Hawks may have the better offensive system to set up the jumpshot but if they can't hit the shot then that free-flowing style doesn't mean shitt
I respect your capping analysis Scal and was on to some of your plays like the Harvard play but I will have to disagree with this one. The Hawks may be the better team on paper, 60 wins, coach of the year, #1 seed , Home field, they have everything going for them but as I learned with the Bulls series. Sometimes the right side is not always the "right" one.
As much as I talk about going against them, I like the Hawks at -1.5 to take game 1. Not making a play here or any games in the series but satisfied with Cavs series bet. I think they ultimately win this series. My early projection was Cavs in five.. but after a little bit more thought the Cavs will close it out at home in game 6. Yes even at a ridiculous -220 juice. If I am wrong, I deserve to eat my words and a slice of humble pie. Hawks have good value I dont disagree. Series price and 12/1 shot to win Finals.. but then so did the Bulls.

No ref bias excuses..Hawks got outplayed and outhustled plain and simple, no way you can win ball games with those stats. thought it would be more competitive but looks as if Hawks have shown their true colors too early.Prepare for a boring Eastern conference finals.

Don't know man , maybe Cavs sweep.. With Carroll not 100% no way he can guard Lebron. Cavs would like to finally close one out at home in these playoffs for their fans. Question is do they prefer rest or deal with the rust factor next round?
