There are many different angles being brought up about tonight's game. I enjoy new angles and opinions on each game because there are a lot of things that I can miss. When I look at tonight's game, most people are talking about Oracle or the Spurs being Veterans. I understand both points and agree with both arguments. But lets throw those two angles out of the window and say that those two cancel each other out in this game.
That being said, I can't ignore what is really happening on the court.
Guards: The Warrior guards are causing a number of problems for the Spurs. As good as Parker is, he is getting attacked on the defensive end and it is causing a lot of mismatches. Leonard seems to be the guy that Curry has problems with so far but that match up forces a small guard on Barnes or Klay.
Forwards/Centers: Andrew Bogut is doing a great job defensively on Mr Fundamental. It allows the Warriors to play straight up and not have to double him. Splitter will start being a presence and I think the Spurs should start causing problems when they have him and Duncan on the court at the same time. I still give the edge to the Spurs in this category but Bogut is making Duncan work for everything.
Coaching: Popovich has a huge advantage over Jackson. He has Jackson playing catch up on match ups during the game and force the Warriors to go small at times.
X-Factor: Definitely think this is the biggest difference in the Series so far. You know what you're going to get from the Big 3 and you know what you're going to get from Curry and Thompson. But the X factor battle between Green/Barnes and Leonard/Green has to go to the Warriors. Draymond and Harrison keep hitting the big shot and showing up defensively. Whenever Parker is on Barnes, the Warriors go straight to the post and run the offense through the rookie. As long as those guys are playing out of their minds, the Warriors have the edge.
Other: Spurs have only been a dog by more than 2.5 pts this year with a full squad. They beat the Clippers in LA by 20+. This is the first time the Warriors have opened up as a favorite in the playoffs so the value is with the Spurs now.
Both sides have legitimate angles but I have to ride the hot team here. I can definitely see a tight game that could potentially result in a 2pt Warriors win where Warriors ATS and Spurs ML loses. For some reason I feel like that 2.5 or 3 pts might come into play today. My Play: Warriors ML (Risking 290 to win 200)

good points however I disagree with you about the coaching. I actually believe up to this point, Mark Jackson has outcoached Pop and it's been Pop playing the catch-up. Of course, this will be a very telling game for the Spurs to see what he comes up with, but there has been no successful adjustment Pop has made so far that Jackson hasn't successfully countered with.

I agree with you ysaelee about Splitter. Hes underrated.
Dim- I guess its hard for me to get Game 1 out of my head. Jackson was terrible and was responsible for that loss. He was afraid of Boris Diaw and decided to go small ball which opened up the paint and gave up boards. On the other end, he was repeatedly calling for 1-4 Flat Out instead of running offense to get quality looks.

well, you are correct in those instances. He does deserve his fair share of the responsibility of game 1 loss. But getting your team into a situation where you are playing such great ball to be up 16 does deserve some merit.

That is true! I am actually shocked with their poise down the stretch in Game 2. Showed a lot of maturity and growth in such a short time. There is one thing to be said about Jackson, these guys believe in his system and would take a bullet for him. Hes not the best X's and O's coach but he may be the perfect match for a young and loose team when it comes to confidence.

I dont think a Zone is the answer. Curry and Klay can shoot from too far and a zone would either give up those shots (2 feet beyond the arc) or open up the middle. I thought Denver had a good approach near the end of the series...double Curry right away to get the ball out of his hands and make Barnes/Green/Bogut beat you. Unfortunately for them and the Spurs, Green and Barnes are nailing the open 3 and playing like Veterans.

His speeches to the players during the breaks even get me motivated. Great leader for sure. As mentioned before, this team is maturing before our eyes. Couldn't be a more true statement right now in my eyes about them.

I would give them those deep 3s allday...2-3 ft beyond the line/ ? Let's see them consistently make those..will be a good game tho..let's see what pop comes up with

awesome write up....spurs win tonight. 21-6 last 27 picks, on a great run, trust me spurs get this tonight, don't throw your money away on gsw
Nothing is for sure. Can you predict the future? Apparently not because you've lost 6 times. Shed some discussion, no one cares about you saying "trust me, spurs win" angle.

the warriors during the regular season had great in bounds plays. plus, they are executing perfect game plans in these first two games versus the spurs. thanks for this thread. fantastic.

Thanks, Steven! I agree that the game plan has been solid. Those in bounds plays are not drawn up by Jackson though. Malone is the X's and O's coach when it comes to that.
