Then why is the line holding at +9? And has not moved an inch all day.....Shouldn't the line be -12.5? The way you guys describe the Lakers, I was expecting -13 at least....

The Lakers shouldn't be favored by 12.5 to anyone. The fact that you were expecting 13 "at least," says enough for me.

I don't think you read it very carefully.  I didn't say they should be favored by 12.5.  I said, the way you guys describe them to perform tonight, I was then expecting -13.  I capped this at Lakers -6

Mr Bator

BigNiner

These are the two guys I read about with their super bowl picks.  BigNiner recently with a huge bet on 49ers minus whatever, Mr. Bator with the patriots minus whatever, years back...Sheep to slaughter...

I'm honored that you have visited my forum.

You just joined this month.  If you remember MrB posting his SB pick from 2008, what's your other usernames you're hiding from?

covers had seen quite a few illustrious characters as i recall by looking at it before registering. some for good reasons some infamous. you can agree with them and you can disagree. two things i would never do - go against mrbator and go against mrbator well, if you had to dig to find when mrbator was wrong - that says it all.

MrBator - you like the Lakers -9????   You're not bothered by Earl Clark possibly being out? Seriously, I'd rather have Dwight Howard or Metta World Peace be out than Earl Clark.

Hmmmm.  Maybe I should hedge my Phoenix +9 play.

We read it carefully, Narco, but you didn't write it carefully.  No one was going to derive this...

Can you explain this situational play? Why would a Clipper win over an 8th seed Rockets on Wednesday mean a Clipper letdown on national TV to their Staples Center big brother Lakers on Thursday?

What does that have to do with tonight's game?  What was the point of that post?  To point out that neither BigNiner nor I are undefeated in our sports betting lives?

Look, I'm not saying that the Lakers -9 holds enough value for a wager to be placed.  I'm just saying that the value you perceive in Phoenix +9 is simply not there.

I agree with that!  Earl Clark is becoming a more confident and skilled player with each passing week.  The best thing about a key player missing signifcant time is that someone else gets a chance to develop, and often does.

The scheduling situation the Clippers are facing is about the worst one there is in the NBA.  They returned home from a very long road trip, have one day off, and then have to play a home game.  The killer is that they then have to play another road game the very next night.  Now of course, it's not a real road game, as they don't have to fly anywhere for the game on Thursday night, but nevertheless, having to play the second of a back-to-back in a hostile environment right after coming home off of an 8-game trip is almost unfair.  BUT, should the Clippers lose to the Rockets tomorrow, the play against them on Thursday is weakened because the Clips off a loss with Chris Paul in the lineup is not something I want to mess with.  It's also not a good idea to mess with the Clippers after any game in which they allowed 100 points or more (even if they won that game).  So that's why, ideally, I'd like to see the Clippers beat the Rockets and enforce Lawler's Law along the way (and then ultimately keep them under 100).

In addition, what would make the Thursday night play even stronger is if the Lakers have trouble with the Suns tonight, either losing the game or winning it in unconvincing fashion.  That's why, unless I wind up betting on the Lakers -9, I will be rooting for Narco to hit his Phoenix +9.5 play.

The line is not moving at all.  Stuck.  Stale.  Not moving. I love it.... I have a huge play in the Clippers game tomorrow, let's just collect this one first.....

With you! Lakers won't be motivated enough to cover here.

The plays:

Phoenix + 9.5
Portland + 11.5
Oklahoma City -5.5

Crazy that 7 of 8 underdogs won straight up in Monday's NBA. That would never happen on a Friday.
