This is a ridiculous thread for two reasons. I am a huge Rockets fan, but first off, to the op, there is only one Jordan. I am 34 years old and the closest I have seen to Jordan in terms of greatness is LeBron (although different styles). Other than that, I wouldn't put anyone on Jordan's level, and that includes Kobe. The second reason why this thread is ridiculous is to the poster who said Harden would win zero titles. He is 23 years old and while not Jordan is still an all-star level player. There is no way for you to know whether or not he will win a title in his career.

Totally agree. I am a huge Harden fan, but Jordan was in a class of his own. Everyone knew his game inside and out, everyone doubled him when they could, and everyone knew he would be the one taking the game winning shot. And yet night after night, year after year he OUTPERFORMED expectations. There will probably never be another player who is that far ahead of the rest of the league as far as talent is concerned.
Also, I"m really concerned that Harden won't be able to stay healthy all year unless the Rockets bring in one more big name, or someone REALLY REALLY steps up as a role player. He will get double and triple teamed this year and banged like there is no tomorrow.
All that said, Harden is an amazing player and he could very well lead the league in scoring this year as he is the most talented player on a team with no other scoring options.

There isn't anybody else in Houston who can get them buckets. Lin's legs won't let him. Parsons is way too inconsistent. Patterson is an undersized big man who really won't get much unless he turns into Charles Barkley. Asik is only there for defense, setting up picks and hustle/energy plays.

what really stood out for michael jordan aside from the obvious championships with the bulls is the fact that he was a shooting guard who had a career 49.7% shooting from the field to go along with an average of 30.1 pts average careerwise per game. Who are the point guards, shooting guards, and swingmen of the nba who can shoot close to 50% from the field and average 30 points a game? The only guy close to these numbers with any consistency at all is dwayne wade, but he falls well short of averaging 30 points a game.
Obviously michael jordan played a very long time, won 6 championships, and was a clutch performer. James harden is only in his 4th year in the nba but he's never been given a chance to start till these last 2 houston games, and he was always the 3rd option on okc. Of course it's too early to tell if james harden can even be the defensive player that michael jordan was too and we'll see how many chamipionships he can win. We will see how he does with the houston rockets because as i stated in the beginning, it's only 2 games.
What strikes me the most is that he average about 32 minutes a game last year, 49.1% shooting from the field and a 16.8 points per game average. There have been some isolated guards in the past few years that have had these type numbers but they're all 1 year wonders unless i am overlooking someone. And now he's getting a chance to be the #1 option on a team with nobody else on offense, like i said it remains to be seen how everything plays out with him but i am very very intrigued by him. And don't forget that michael jordan was the type of player who played even better when he was sick and played very well through injuries, similiar to what kobe bryant does. Does james harden play well through injuries? Again we'll just have to see about that.
It's unfortunate that this thread shows how people cannot think outside of the box and somehow get out-raged when a name is put aside michael jordan, you might have a point if someone doesn't know who michael jordan really was and what he did, but i was a basketball fan when a guy by the name of harold miner was being compared to jordan. They called him "baby jordan" and then there is the kobe bryant comparison too but he doesn't shoot anywhere near 50% so in my mind he's been way out of the equation.
Honestly nobody has been worthy of a comparison to michael jordan for this simple fact: Name me a guard, whether shooting guard, swingman, or even point guard that averaged 30 points his entire career and shot 50%, the answer is nobody. The reason being is because there aren't many guards PERIOD that can even shoot 50%. Hell there's so many forwards in the league who are considered big man and they can't break 50%.
Now you can begin to understand why i would bring up james harden in this thread because he can still work on his defense, he needs to win championships but the fact of the matter is that he looks like a guy who can average close to 30 points and shoot 50% from the field. Of course he was not able to do well vs the heat in the finals last year because the heat have the defense/defender to slow him down but this is only 1 team in the nba. There might be no more than a few more in the league that can prevent james harden from scoring 30 points no that he's the first option.
For those of you who say to yourself, "well crow you should have stated everything you just did #1 as opposed to in the #20s" but i wanted to make an example of how people are quick to assume and the fact that everyone is guilty until proven innocent. We should not have to prove our innocence despite the fact that many young lads in here are new at betting/sports.

lebron james is not a guard, he's at the forward position. I think i would have looked a lot more idiotic if i asked the question is Lebron James = Michael Jordan ?

if the thread was really so ridiculous, then why did you even reply in here then?
