#4 Posted: 7/17/2012 11:00:26 PM howard's been chilling in LA. should be interesting. LA should try to do a three way trade with Magic and Houston. Bynum wants to go to Houston. Magic wants to rebuild and Lakers want Howard. It's a perfect fit for all three teams.

if it happens i will be the first one to eat my words here and admit i was wrong,
but,
bynum is the piece that orlando wants, and he has said he will NOT sign an extension in orlando, so that is dealbreaker #1
orlando needs the lakers to take on the big contract of hedu but the lakers cannot afford it due to the new luxury tax penalty being higher than ever, that is #2
and last but most important, dwight has made it clear he wants to be in brooklyn, so the lakers would just be renting him for one season, he does not want to be a laker because of following in shaq's footsteps and playing with aging kobe and aging nash,
that is the dealbreaker #3
this deal is 95% NOT GOING TO GET DONE

Point 2:
orlando needs the lakers to take on the big contract of hedu but the lakers cannot afford it due to the new luxury tax penalty being higher than ever, that is #2

Erm Orlando hasnt got that much attention in regard to Bynum, they dont want him necessarily, they prefer to clean cap space, get picks and totally rebuild. So thats not a valid point, Cavs could come in handy in offloading Bynum and offering picks and low contract crap players to Orlando.
Also Cavs could take on a bigger contract in Turkoglu, or even the lakers can take him and amnesty like MWP contract. Your third point is maybe your only valid point, although I doubt Howard will not sign an extension in Lalatown, he may didnt want to when Lakers seemed to have no more life in them with only Bryant playing decent, but with the recent addition of Nash it could sway him. |

orlando wants to clear cap space AND get a big, which is why they were after brook lopez and now they want bynum. the fly in the ointment w/bynum is that he does not want to sign an extension to stay in orlando.
why he would be willing to sign an extension in cleveland or houston, but not orlando, is beyond me.
orlando is a way nicer city and better place to live, and orlando is not a dead franchise, just one that is starting over and will have cap space for some nice additions

#12 Posted: 7/18/2012 1:16:24 PM With the Cavs he would have a better direct future though, he would be able to get to the playoffs, which wouldnt be possible with Orlando, atleast not next year. Don't know whether you already know, but he has already said he would sign an extension with the Cavs.
If Orlando wants a big, Cleveland could offer T.Thompson, not sure whether the Cavs want to do that but if I think if that needs to be done to make the trade happen and get Bynum I think they should. |

#13 Posted: 7/18/2012 2:56:23 PM When will Orlando realized that non of the Bigs want to play for Orlando? Orlando need to understand that no matter what the deal is on the table, they will be trading for a lost. Just suck it up and tell your scouts, recruits to continue looking at prospects. Magic is like a development team. Their job is to bring up players so big markets can get them.

#15 Posted: 7/18/2012 3:35:16 PM Dude, if you are going to say Orlando has a better team you are helpless. Without Howard Orlando is a bottom 5 team, whereas the Cavs with Bynum have a solid team with Bynum-Irving. You think Bynum rather plays with Nelson than Irving? |

without Howard, Orlando is on the same level as Cleveland,
they will both suck,
not sure if Andrew is just saying he won't go to Orlando because he knows that the Lakers would pull the trigger on it in a heartbeat and he is trying to make it difficult on them by forcing other teams like Cleve to join the fray
bynum is not an idiot

#17 Posted: 7/18/2012 7:31:06 PM It should be an interesting week. Trade talk just involved the Cavs with the Magic getting Varejao and a couple of draft picks. |

#18 Posted: 7/18/2012 7:49:44 PM Dwights been chillin LA. This is really the only reasonable trade for Orlando if they can swing bynum on an extension, land a lottery pick and unload any of 2 of either Richardson, Turkeygoo, the other Richardson, and Duhon. |

#19 Posted: 7/19/2012 9:26:07 AM It is looking like a case of when Dwight is traded to LA rather than IF Dwight is traded to LA.
For me this makes the Lakers chances about 15% better, you have Howard who unlike Bynum will play with energy Bynum plays hard 1 in every 3-4 games. He also will run up and down the floor something Bynum rarely did.
If Bynum is full engaged and gave his maximum effort than i would keep Bynum but sadly he rarely does that. On offense Bynum is a better player. Dwight is far superior on defense and is a better athlete.
I wish Bynum well and wouldn't be too disappointed if he ends up staying in LA if the Howard trade ends up falling through. |

#20 Posted: 7/19/2012 7:45:24 PM Dwight is easily the better player. That espn gm poll was such a farce. It was nothing more then to generate a story. Howard is a top 5 player in the league. Bynum is a good player but anyone with any sort knowledge of game would never argue that they would rather have Bynum. |

only 15% better?
i am not a laker fan, in fact i hate them, but if dwight howard, kobe, pau gasol, nash, and metta peace, are all on this team, they are THE FAVORITE TO WIN THE TITLE THIS YEAR
no question about it.
