I would like to say that my only words tonight will be just a respectful comment on KD.....After watching this boy play since coming out of Texas, I can honestly say this young man is the best player I have seen in the NBA. Including Micheal Jordan Kobe and Lebron.  This kid has magic.  I break down a ton of games from DVR to cap the next game.  KD just has that glow man.....he is in a zone, and since college has been turning heads.  Stock up on this guys NBA cards because your children will be talking about this kid when your an old man and you will be proud to say I saw him play Son.  Just my opinion.  But he is the best player ever in the NBA.  Watch how many championships this guy wins over the next 10 years....I got him for his career if he continues to play and even improve at around 6-8 Championships rings barring he has a decent supporting cast.  True Majestic garbage for an NBA fan like myself

I understand the arguments for Jordan because of the Rings...But Durant so young....If he has more growth he will be virtually unstopable

no. forget the rings. michael jordan in the late 80s, before he had the complete team around him that won the rings...he was so much more dominant than his competition, that you are clearly under 30 years old because if you saw jordan from 85 - 90, you wouldn't make such an asinine comment. Keep in mind jordan had to play vs the late 80s NBA, not the pussyfarts like melo that infest the league today.

one more thing. Michael jordan is a flaming fool. he is so competitive, he used his hall of fame speech to throw a high school coach under the bus.

kevin durant is too nice a guy, can't even seize leadership on his own team.

great call on the Sixers!
I definitely didnt expect the Celtics to come out flat like that with no will to win the game.

As for KD being better than Kobe, LeBron, and.....the GOAT? Durant will be lucky if he even wins ONE championship when its all said and done.

OKC better try to get that ONE championship within these next 2 years because they may lose Harden, and then they may lose Ibaka. There is no way they can max out Harden with that silly contract they gave Perk. And then Iblocka is going to wanna get paid too. I will be shocked to see those 4 still playing with each other after contracts are handed out after 2 years. And if that core is not together, kiss the championship aspirations goodbye.

agreed basketball skill aside  mj is, its just the media did a  great job at minimizing this, can't stop all the money pouring in right?

bashed the hell out of his teammates

some of mj's less flattering quotes

"They've got no idea what it's all about. The white guys, they work hard, but they don't have the talent. And the rest of them? Who knows what to expect? They're not good for much of anything."

"He can't do anything with the ball. Don't give it to him." - Michael yelling at Paxson who passed the ball to Perdue

"You're an idiot. You've screwed up every play we ever ran. You're too stupid to even remember the plays. We ought to get rid of you." - Michael to Horace Grant

"Give me the fu*king ball." - Michael to Doug Collins who drew up a play for Dave Corzine

"Headache tonight, Scottie?" - Michael asks Scottie, while showing him his 2-for-16 line

most of the people today view MJ as the GOAT, but they never watched him play. Its only a title to them. Thats why they believe guys like LeBron and KD and Kobe are better. I grew up in the Kobe era, but I also caught the last 3 championships for MJ. There is no way LeBron or KD, or Kobe will ever surpass that man. Even if Kobe hits 6 or 7. MJ's mystique will always keep him at the top of the mountain.

This is true....

You can't be the best unless you're the most competitive jerk in the room. Michael has it. And Kobe has it. And thats why Kobe will always be the closest thing to MJ. LeBron is too politically correct and he wants to be loved by everyone. KD just doesnt have the same mentality and yes, he is too nice of a guy. You've got to be willing to step on people to reach the top. LeBron and KD just don't have that in them.

You dont have to be an fool to win multiple championships, timmy duncan has 4 rings and could get number 5 in a few weeks.... What you do need is the right teammates, the right coach, a great front office to make the right roster changes on a year to year basis and some LUCK..... Luck to avoid injuries and luck to avoid another great team that develops at the same time as your team, where you take turns beating each other year to year....

There is one thing durant will have to battle that will ultimately hinder him: the salary cap. As all these young players sign extentions and get their yearly raises, there will come a point where OKC simply wont be able to keep the team together.... with the new penalty tax, even the lakers are not going to overspend.... it will be a much different era to keep dynasties together than the jordan years or he kobe years with the soft cap

LOL, Jordan is not even in the same picture. Dude has won 6 rings, MVP every time he won a ring, defensive player of the year.

That quote is absolutely great. What is wrong with someone telling these idiots the truth? How is that being an fool? Is it wrong that MJ blasted these baboons for lack of effort....I don't think so. I think all these quotes are great and have nothing to do with him being a flaming fool. There are other reasons why he is an fool but saying these quotes make him an fool make you look like a little girl.

Someone who gets it.

I agree with all of you that Jordan was the deal of the ages.  But we got to get off his cock sometimes and look at whats before us.  I am 33 and remember Jordan very well.  I got into gambling at around 18 years old and have learned a ton of garbage since then about how to cap games.  And one major thing a Las Vegas loan shark tought me about gambling was to always break down the games and study.  You can only remember so much garbage watching a game once.....It's like wathing a movie once then again and again and you say holy garbage I didnt see that the first time or the second.  Our eyes need to remember.  I've already watched the Pacers/Miami game from Tuesdy night 4 times, With the money I put on these games you have to be armed with as much information as possible to bet on these games.  As far as Durant and Jordan, I will let you guys feast on Jordan for a bit longer, Until about 2014 We will bring this topic up again and I am sure we get a few more people on my side once Durant takes a hold of the leauge like Jordan did

BEST boxed of all time = TYSON ( just go back and watch tyson wen he was young wen opponents didnt even last a round .... If u don't believe me).

BEST NBA PLAYER = JORDAN ..... honestly can't even compare.... Teams was doubling ,tripling team on him he will still get his ring.... Not to mentio. Top clutch player of all time .... Can't say that about lebron, mj has the leadership mentality, can't say that about KD.....

Anytime someone wants to say another NBA player is better than MJ you must consider these facts and opinions:

1.  Jordan was voted the best athelete of the past 100 years....that means MJ was better than Muhammed Ali...Babe Ruth...Hank Aaron....Jesse Owens....Kareem....Wilt....Montana...Jim Brown...Walter Payton....Jack Nicolas...etc..etc...etc...

So when someone elcipses MJ they are approaching the GREATEST OF ALL TIME (goat) for all sports

This was voted on by a distinguished panel

2.   Now sticking to just basketball

MJ has 2 gold medals....10 scoring titles (at least)....6 NBA Finals MVPs.....5 regular season MVPs.....a defensive player of the year award......is in top 4 (maybe 2nd) in the league in career steals......led....LED..LED the league in steals at least one year.....not to mention all the years of NBA 1st team all league and 1st team all league on defense

I will stop there......I know you said in your opinion....but wow, to me, KD is nowhere near MJ's resume

And to me....KD is not outperforming LBJ

LBJ scores on par with KD....and the coaches and media keep giving LBJ 1st team all NBA and 1st team all NBA defense as well as MVP of regular seasons over KD

And...based on LBJ last two playoff performances and some of the other performances LBJ puts up.....LBJ has more historical performances (40 pts...18 rebs...9 assts)....then follows it up with a 30 pts 10 reb 8 assts???? type game

Sports Bureau said that hadn't been done in 50 years....LBJ has that kind of all around ability kind of stuff...that I think KD has...but he has not shown it as consistently and brilliantly (that is Kobe Bryants words) as LBJ

Also see Larry Bird comments....a few months ago,,,even he said,,,LBJ is the best player in our league and everyone else comes AFTER him

Finally, to often everyone focuses just on offense when considering who is the better player....in my opinion I too concede that KD shot is more pure then LBJ as a scorer but like I said...to me...LBJ scores on par with all the leagues pure shooters Melo and KD as well as scorers  Kobe and D Wade

But there are other facets to the game that LBJ blows them and others away...and those are ways to control a game and lead your team

rebounds....KD is close to LBJ on this one

assists...KD is not close to LBJ

tempo...LBJ controls tempo...better ball handler...KD does not control game tempo

Good call on Philly... horrid call on KD being better then Jordan ... ... At this point  KD needs to get the "shine box"  for MJ... Lets not forget what a shutdown defender MJ was ..  KD is LIGHT years behind MJ at this point and probably will still be there 10 years from now..  KD > MJ... .....    .......    ......

Again I dont know why I always see myself answering to these stupid behind threads that are started daily in this forum. Yes better than MJ Kobe Lebron lmao. The guy plays no defense clown and like the poster up above stated he hasn't been to a finals yet and you're making comments like this you jackass! oh that's right you have DVR!  I know 16 and you don't know any better or you just like to stir garbage up.

I don't know how you compare anyone to Jordan. D could hand check the hell out of people in Jordan's day and he'd still get 60. The rule changes across time make comparisons ridiculous. It's like the Brees thing yes, he has the record but NFL rules favor the offense nowadays while in Marino's day it was just football. Don't know how you can compare the two without chuckling.

I'm sure Durant will be good and I enjoy watching him play and from interviews he seems like a good guy (which I agree is a downfall to being the GOAT). Just enjoy the guy cause I don't know how you can compare him to Jordan.

great points here... my last one is that, if you stick a movie called "come fly with me" from the late 80s into the VCR (or just youtube it today), you will see that nobody in the NBA holds a candle to michael jordan.

If one could take westbrooks alpha male & install it into durant, you would get another michael jordan. Just IMO.
