So after the dreaded lockout, the shortened NBA season actually proved to be more exciting in some ways than a regular 82 game schedule.

The high octane pace of this 66 game year made and broke many. There was Linsanity, the Dwight Howard frenzy, Chris Paul being blocked from joining the Lakers only to join their in house neighbours when he signed with the Clippers.

This worked out great for their organization as the Clippers who at the start of the season opened at +8000 are now listed at +2000.

The injuries of course took their toll on many teams since players were forced to play back to back to back games for the first time in decades. Naturally you would think one of the oldest teams in the league which is of course the Spurs would suffer from this but the Spurs are a resilient bunch and have not only managed, they flourished while dealing with injuries and most recently giving Tim Duncan a night off and noting him on the roster list as inactive and the reason being “old”.

This stubbornness has rocketed the Spurs from opening at +3000 to being at +600 now.

The East as always looks much more predictable with the Heat and the Bulls leading the way even when their star players are out with injuries. This year will almost definitely be a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals with both teams being such a lock that the next best team projected which is Orlando is set at +1600.

The West has always been complicated and is more now than ever. Even with Durantula, Westbrook and Harden having their best season and the Thunder sitting atop with a -125 mark, this is the West and that means that the 8th playoff seed in this conference will probably match the “win total” of an East team in 3 or 4th place on their side of the coast.

Now this wouldn’t be a story about an NBA season if it didn’t mention the everlasting “Lake Show". From overtaking the Knicks as the most valuable NBA team after signing a cable contract worth hundreds of millions, Phil Jackson leaving, Mike Brown coming in, to Pau Gasol being traded and then the deal turned down by David Stern, to Lamar Odom being given away to the Mavericks for nothing, to Derek Fisher and his legend getting sent to the Thunder at the trade dead line, this year has been as action packed as any for this Lakers organization.

You guessed it this wasn’t the end of it as this week Kobe was benched with 6 more minutes left to play in a game that was well within reach, but Black Mamba won’t let that little mishap deter him from his quest to catch Jordan with 6 rings. After all was said and done with the addition of Sessions the Lakers are still contenders while sitting at the +1200 mark.

So with the playoffs around the corner this month will prove to be dreadful for the players but a joy to watch for the fans and sports bettors. One thing I can say for sure after watching the NBA for the past 14 years is that this was the longest short season I ever witnessed.

Embarrassing ploy to attract customers

Just don't win anything more than $5 on the NBA you don't want this horrific joke of a book shutting you down.. one of the worst rated sportsbooks in the world.. for good reason..

Sportsbook.com Group steals $5,677 from player
The player held accounts at Sportsbook.com (SBR rating D-), Sportsbooks.com (SBR rating D-), Sportfanatik (SBR rating D-), and playersonly (SBR rating D-). He was debited for the amounts won over the life of the account totaling $5,677. Sportsbook.com cites "bonus abuse" as the reason for stealing these funds. The Sportsbook.com operation often labels players who have won money and utilized promotions in more than one of the many sister sportsbooks as bonus abusers. Sportsbook.com and sister Jazette books do not have rules against using multiple brands and using their promotions.
