Nathan Jawai, back after six weeks out with an ankle injury, looked a little rusty until he hammered down the night's most thunderous dunk and Luke Nevill also was a presence.

Jawai will be a big drawcard in the remaining games.

"To see him get through that game, to get a sweat and his cardio rolling, was great and it was a good performance," Brown said.

"I tried to push him a bit further and it might be further in Melbourne and Adelaide because at some point he has to get in shape to play.

"He will head over to the summer (pro) league and these games are a great stepping stone."

Brown hopes the 23-year-old, who scored eight points and pulled in five rebounds, can increase his workload when the teams clash again in Melbourne today.

''He's been injured so he's come in a little bit half-baked,'' Brown said. ''To see him get through that game and get a sweat and to get his cardio rolling around, I thought that was a great performance.

''That's what Nathan has to do. He hasn't really played basketball for a long time. It's not like he was a rotation player in the NBA. It's hard to improve, it's hard to get that basketball feel … that's what these three games can do for him.

''I think it can also help him for when he goes over to Las Vegas for the NBA summer league.''

With an elbow injury ruling Australia's NBA star Andrew Bogut out of the 2010 FIBA World Championships in August, Brown is desperate to get Jawai back to full fitness.

''He has the chance to be a little bit of a difference maker with our group,'' Brown said.

Australia won without regular Boomers Bogut, David Andersen, Matt Nielsen, C.J. Bruton and Mark Worthington, but little could be read into it given Argentina arrived with none of their regular players.
