Why so little respect for the Celtics? *Discussion*

I created this thread to talk about the lack of respect the Boston Celtics are getting right now just because the are facing the Cleveland Cavaliers, as a fan im pissed but as a capper im loving it.

Here are so facts for you all:

The Celtics started the season 23 Wins and just 5 Loses, and back then everybody was saying they were gonna win it all, then they went down hill and finished the season 27 W and 27 L, and while they were at it everybody was saying that they were done this year.

That just shows you how people change their mind so quickly, Boston defeated  the Heat 4-1 and so did Cleveland with its series, now they face each other in the 2 round of the east conference playoffs and almost everybody out there is saying Cleveland will win and even saying that Boston doesn't even have a chance,  that is what pisses me off as a fan.

Boston is playing great as a team right now, Rondo is doing a great job, Allen is shooting better now, Pierce always plays hard, Garnet is doing more offense and playing good defense and everyone else is doing his part, they are playing like that 23-5 team right now.

They have a legitimate shot, not only beat Cleveland but also to Win it all,  aside from James, Boston is a  better team man by man, Mo, Jamison and O`neal (or even Varajao) are not better than Rondo, Allen and Garnet, so my underdog will get some great lines  and may bring me some good cash, thats why im loving it as a capper.


What do you guys think about the Celtics vs Cavaliers series?

If anyone were to honestly look at this Celtics team for what it is, without regard to their city or their past title run, and if that same person were to see this Cavalier team play in a game in which they are actually trying, it becomes impossible not to understand why there is such little respect for the Celtics' chances.

Celts have no chance...  They are too old & the king will show them out the door.

I guess Boston is not getting the respect it deserves, but I cant see them beating the Cavs, not this season. Perhaps it will be a closer series than most people think, but Cavs are just so much different than previous seasons, Jamison and Shaq change everything for them. Regular season might not mean a lot for most people, but it tells me something I like to know.

I didnt like Cleveland last season because they did not have quality wins on the road in the regular season, and they had negative head-to-heads against all the best teams, but for some reason people were paying too much attention to their 2-loss home record. This season though they are 2-2 against Boston, with Boston winning on opening night when the Cavs were sooooo much weaker than they are now and in the final week of the reg.season when Clev. had everything clinched. The two Cavs wins were quite comfortable and I just believe is a miss-match for the Celtics. Plus, unlike last season Cleveland has won important matches on the road this season, as they beat Boston, LA, Orlando... on the road so they have the confidence to win in any arena. Boston is still Boston, they play good defence, but I feel 3 years without a NBA final for Lebron will be too much.

Rondo will be key factor.

Home court is huge when these teams play each other, and cavs have the home court..... Boston just beat-up on a 1 man team, who they have also historically owned over the last 3 years...... Boston doesn't deserve respect until they demonstrate they are worthy of it.... and the heat series proves nothing because they own the heat....

... but I wouldn't lay the wood with cavs series line right now because of the mysterious arm injury to Mr.James elbow...

Cavs are garbage outside of lebron so i see no reason why celtics cant win. They are "old" yet only 2 years removed from a title. How much older do you get in 2 years? Not alot. They werent healthy is the real key

This is a joke, right? The only reason Boston looks like they are playing "great" as a team right now is because they were playing a real crappy Heat team in the first round. They may be playing like a 23-5 team right now but you have to take quality of competition into consideration.

To say that they have a legitimate shot to not only beat the Cavs but win it all is ridiculous, IMO, and shows your fandom coming through.

Don't let your love for Boston lose you money during the playoffs when they get crushed 4-1 by Cleveland.

I think the Celtics have a better shot than most think...they still have plenty options and Rondo has stepped it up this year. Celtics may be getting older, but they still can shoot the ball and play defense. Maybe it's just that I can't stand the Cavs...but it should be an interesting series.

Rondo would have to have an incredible series for the Celtics to advance.  Someone outside of Garnett, Pierce, and Allen would have to step up big time. 

Cavs have a pretty big bench advantage IMO as well.

no they aren't.  this is a much different team than last year, the bench has much more size, speed, and atheltism compared to last year

For me, it is not who they are playing but the fact that they just suck. I don't respect the Celtics or any aspect of their game. They are old, dirty, and slow with a decent PG.

The fact that they struggled against the Heat makes me question them. There is one guy capable of making a shot on that team and they blew a 21 point lead in the close out game and even lost once.

I really don't understand if some of the people typing here actually believe what they are saying.

You honestly feel that the Cavs don't try at times and just decide when they are going to win?  This isn't the Dream Team here and the supporting cast around Lebron isn't so great.

Seriously? Boston hasn't earned your respect?  Injury plagued all year and played some great defense against the Heat. 

People gotta stop giving Shaq all this love and realize that Perkins will shut him down.  And people gotta start realizing that the series realizes on the Big 3 and not for someone else to step up.  Rondo is their BEST player. When he plays great the team wins, when he doesn't they lose.  If the Big 3 bring it on both sides of the ball they will WIN this series.  I don't wanna hear any bullshit about Lebron being hurt after its all over.  Celtics getting 7.5 points?  Take out a 2nd 3rd and 4th morgage and get your kids free college

 

 

And all the same people here knocking the Celtics probably backed the Washington Capitals vs Montreal or they had Atlanta last night as a 9 point fav.

 

Couldn't agree with you more about Glen Davis.  The game Garnett got suspended was the biggest joke line in the history of sports.  Davis is the PERFECT fit for that team and can actually play basketball unlike Varajo

i will be riding the celtics throughout the next round. The cavs are overvalued IMO

and the celtics are just undervalued

I find it cute how everyone thought Boston was done before the playoffs and were eager to grab the + cheese with the Heat to take out the old geezers. Now all of the sudden they show some pride and beat an awful Heat squad and everyone thinks they have a shot again.

Boston is a dead duck in this series. They're still the same old Celtics. Their D isn't nearly as good, they are an awful rebounding team going up against a great one (they won't overcome that) and they still routinely blow leads, they blew one in the Miami series costing them a game and they tried really hard to blow another.

Cavs in 4 or 5.

I am huge Celtics fan and I really think they don't deserve any respect to they prove they can do it. Mia was a dream match-up and we handled it fine.
Positives: KG is hitting the 18 footer, Ray Allen looks sharp, and Rondo looks down right nasty.
Do i think the Celtics can win? I really do think they have a great shot at it. People who think Clev sweeps or wins in five are nuts this goes 6 or seven. The Celtics match-up pretty well with the Cavs:

-Rondo vs Mo Williams: Not even close Mo Williams never shows up for the play-offs and can't create for other people. ADV: RONDO
-Allen vs. Anthony Parker: Big upgrade from Wally for the cavs but he is no where near the shooter that Ray is and is actually a worse defender then Ray which is hard to be.
-PP vs James: James is much better right now in his career. Let's just see if James will trust his teammates.ADV JAMES
KG vs Jamison: As hard as this is for me i say this wash now. Aj still thinks he can shoot the three which brings game way down. If he slashed to the hoop more he might have the edge on KG. ADV WASH
Perk vs Shaq: I give this a wash too based on the fact Shaq can only play about 20 minutes a game and Perk plays him pretty well. ADV: WASH
BENCH: I would have to take the Cavs right now with Moon, West, the king of flops, and Hickson (if Brown Ever plays him) right now boston only has tony allen and big baby off the bench. ADV CAVS

Coaching: Little advantage to Doc for his out bounds plays. Mike Brown often times seems confused when James is missing his jump shots. ADV Boston

Think this series all comes down to game one. I think if Boston can take one the series is theirs.
