A new sytem in trial.. Any input accepted..

ok.. my idea is this..  I've taken all 30 NBA teams and got their top rankings as far as how they rank in the NBA league.  I've divided the 30 teams into 6 divisions. Division 1 (CLE, LAL, BOS, ORL, DAL) being the top ranked teams to Division 6 (WAS, IND, MIN, DET, NJ) being the worse ranked teams.. I've then calculated how a certain team has averaged point wise against other teams in their opponents division.. (Ex. CLE vs. MIA - I've looked at CLE's past schedule vs. teams in division 3 and averaged them out as I have also done the same with MIA vs. teams in division 1. Here are my results..

CLE vs. MIA

• MIA avg. 99-100 pts. vs. teams in division 1

I love Systems , hope this one you try on the long-run to be profitable,but let me ask you some questions ,

1. When you calculate teams points,in certain division vs division games,if one of the team or even both had played an OT game,do you consider the 48min points scored or the points of the game counting also the Overtime ? Cuz the number of games is small and 15 OT points can make a big difference on avg points.

2. Above you write the avg points the teams score vs a certain division , but what about their defense ? Do you take in consideration the points allowed ?

3. What if a team drops from the division where you have inserted it ? Do you take in consideration the NBA ranking every when ? Denver Nuggets today Monday Jan 25 have the 4th NBA record for W/L , in which division are they now 1st or 2nd ?

ok..  1. no, I didn't take out for OT..  I really wasn't sure if I should becuase what I am basically going for is the O/U wins and when available.. the team totals..  So in this system, every point counts even in OT..

2. Defense is not included in this.. this is based on how team A faces against teams that are ranking close to their opponents and the points they have scored..  

3. I checked the NBA rankings today.. showed that Denver was ranked 10th, now, I don't know if that changed after tonights game.. if so, then the 3 hours of work I've been doing is kind wasted..   So.. BOL I hope.. I'll try out some of these picks tomorrow and we'll see how it goes..

Excuse my ignorance , but Ranking is how the teams are in the league with the W/L records ? I mean Cavs 34-11,Lal 33-11 etc ? Or is the Power Ranking ? Cuz I was talking about the league's standings in W/L , you know those were have games behing , % , this stuff.

But anyway ,based on the ranking you check , will you keep the teams in the divisions you have put them or are you going to move a team from a division to another based on their results,as teams can go in hot and cold streaks ?
