Blazers center Greg Oden has a fractured left patella and will undergo surgery. He will likely miss the rest of the season.

Sad!!!

Looks like he is the next Sam Bowie or Bill Walton with chronic injuries every year! Portland is cursed when drafting big men! Kevin Duckworth was decent but then he died. If you're a big man you don't want to be drafted by Portland!

No way it makes them better! Oden is great defensively! Portland gives up 93 points a game this season. watch that go up to about 97-98 with him being out!

Yep. This is Sam Bowie all over for Portland.

They gambled by not taking Durant, and they have lost.

I feel bad for Oden.

He is one of those injury-prone players.

but he also slows the team down, clogs up the paint, misses tons of freethrows.. i think they'll play better and the lines will be adjusted for his absence creating great value

What man his size doesn't clog up the paint? Dwight Howard and a Shaq miss a ton of free throws too, but there presence defensively is what makes their team great because defensive stops leads to easy buckets on offense. You'll see Portland will not be better without him! My mistake, Portland is ranked 3rd defensively giving up 91 points a game. You will see that number jump to at least 95-96 with Oden out!

By the way Greg Oden's free throw pct has been very good this year hitting 76%. Plus shooting 60% from the field! Plus 8.8 rebounds in 24 minutes a game is about 12-13 rebounds if he played 35 minutes. Averages 2.4 blocks a game too! If he played 35 minutes  a game he would be top 3 in Rebounds and Blocks! He's already 4th in field goal percentage! If you think Portland will be better with out him, then you don't know basketball!

Greg Oden was the right choice at #1.  Unfortunately there was no way to predict his injury problems.  He is a dominating presence inside when healthy and can give you 20/10 without a problem, which is exaclty what Portland needs.  Its a shitty situation, and the Sam Bowie references will always plague him.  Its just a tough thing to be THAT big that YOUNG.

I told everyone Greg Oden would be a bust @ #1 when he was chosen. Screw what fits the team, Durant>Oden by miles.

Exactly. I have a hard time believing anybody would have taken Durant over him, giving the potential Oden brought to the table.

What? Says you joined Nov 2009. Get out of here with your BS.

I said Kobe would be a steal at #13 as well.
