#4 Posted: 2/19/2009 12:40:23 PM Its about time to do this since I get tired of BS "system" this "system" that. Really? No my friends there is NO SYSTEM to gambling!!That's why its called gambling! If there was a system that could hit 60% in constant bases then I would quit my job now!

#5 Posted: 2/19/2009 1:37:34 PM Obviously, the outcome of four games does not prove or disprove any system, but I couldn't agree with you more. Blindly fading the public does not work. Nothing is that easy.

#6 Posted: 2/19/2009 1:39:12 PM Good stuff....I hate when people base picks soley on public percentages or they use that as a reason to fade a team.

Couldn't agree more. As long as humans ref the games and play the games, there is no such thing as a 'system.' If there were, all the sportbooks would be out of business. |

#11 Posted: 2/19/2009 1:46:17 PM fading the public isn't a good strategy..........but seeing where the public is is a valuable tool for handicapping.......... |

#16 Posted: 2/19/2009 2:03:16 PM Another problem with the "fade the public" disciples is if a game is a borderline public play they count it if the public lost and ignore it if the public won. They screw up all data with their personal bias.
For instance lets say the spurs were a public play vs the knicks 2 nights ago.
Since the spurs lost, they count it as a public play. If the spurs had won they would have said "line moves and betting patterns were influenced by ginobli being a late scratch" so it is not a public play.

#17 Posted: 2/19/2009 3:01:12 PM "fade the public" bandwagon riders just cant make a decision for themselves so they auto pick the worst choice without capping a single thing which = ... im a keep my money with the best options period not with the losing vote getter!! its no popularity contest!! |

#18 Posted: 2/19/2009 3:27:58 PM While I agree that there is no "true" system.. The plays that are much more profitable are when the percentage is above 70% and there is no line movement or reverse line movement. The line moved accordingly in 3 of the 4 games (Lakers being the one that stayed the same).
The same lines could be shown in last nights games in CBB
Pacific 83% Loss
Illinois 72% Loss
Va Tech 69% Loss
Butler 86% Loss
Just depends on what statistics you want to look at...
I use various methods of capping games but to show these 4 games and think it dispproves everything isn't true. If you faded the 4 in CBB you would have gone 4-4 losing juice..
However, I do find the public % has little to no effect on NBA games but does play a role in CBB, especially nat. tv games..
