I can't believe that I've never heard of this idea from anyone.  I am headed to Vegas later this year have been trying to figure out how to make sure my money lasts....

Background - You know the drill.  You head to Vegas with X amount of money (call it $3K) and you want to make sure it lasts the trip.  You get drunk the first night and tear through your cash. Then you're miserable and either bum around or do a CC advance, etc.  BUT NOT MORE!!  I have the solution.

I will use my trip as an example and say I am going to take $3K.  I get there on a Friday.  The first thing I'm going to do is head to the sports book and find a game (any sport) that will settle on Sat around noon.  I will then bet $1K on one side of the game (and yea, you guessed it), $1K on the other side.  For $50, I can protect $2K for the night and collect my money that following day after I sleep off Friday night.

You think that's expensive??  Consider how many times you have doubled/tripled a bet (when drunk), dropped $25 on the roulette table, etc., etc., etc....  Now how expensive does $50 sound?  That's just one stupid mistake that YOU WILL MAKE that night.

I would be very interested to hear if someone knows of any low juice books or no juice specials that I could use for this GENIUS strategy.

Would also like to hear if someone else has a better idea of suggestions.

Thx.

Weekend trip why not..Week long trip will cost you $350 or a decent session at a table...

I just go out with a few hundred and a few ATM cards with daily limits..If I hit an ATM when drunk and and on tilt always bring the card back upstairs and it makes sense to me 'cause I'm ready to hit now that I reloaded..Do that once or twice and then it's always darn it there's food over there, night over.

Next day look in wallet for TITO's and receipts and calculate what card to use or not within the daily time frame..crazy garbage but I need the self-discipline over a week.

On a good day/trip it's the reverse, bring up chips cash to the room and go down for another session with 20%..

Why not put that money in the hotel safe and take the $50 you were going to give the casino and get some dinner?  Have a little self control man.

I think you miss the point.  Have you never talked to someone who was like.  "Man...I wish I had taken that money out of the safe and played it!"  If I knew that wouldn't happen then you're right, that would be ideal.  This is just a way to protect the sober self from the drunk wild man self.

ok I finally read an entire post of yours. So you put $1000 on one side and $1000 on the other side. How do you only lose $50.00? The clock is ticking.....the rain is coming.

I am assuming that you can find a 5% juice line.  If you can't, then it would be $100.

You won't find 5 cents anywhere in Vegas.

Maybe the next time, I mean the first time he goes to Vegas he can unearth that 5% book that is hiding and we all can go there.

There may be limited specials or select games (though I've never seen them), sure, but no book will go down to 5 cents because their profit margins are so small any way (when compared to the money the rest of the casino brings in)

I understand it is difficult for you to "think outside of the box" or comprehend that sometimes you have to retreat before you move forward.  I know that you think...spend $50 or don't spend $50.  Hmmm....don't spend $50.  You fail to grasp the concept of the bigger picture, but I'll use small words to help you.

I don't know a single person that frequents Vegas/gambling areas who doesn't either have a friend or a friend of a friend or a boss, relative, poker buddy, or at a minimum hasn't heard a very credible story where someone was very, very sorry that they had extra cash in their pocket when they got wasted and pissed it away.  Maybe you're that one person that I didn't think existed.  Maybe you are a shut-in that doesn't read any stories about Vegas/gambling areas and doesn't talk to people.  You could be that one exception.

Assuming that you are not that exception....well...then, you know what I'm talking about and know that people wake up the next morning and say...."CRAP!  Why did I do that!"  With my system, you can't do that, can you?

But again...maybe you're that one person that has never heard of someone going to Vegas and getting too wild and wasting money while drunk.  Maybe......

It is great to see someone rip on another person for having true money mangament and self control. Put down the bottle or what ever it is you do....ah screw it. Actually go to Vegas sometime, give the sportsbook a free $100, get wasted and since you have no self control i hope you don't wake in with some tranny that you gave your last $300 to. I can hear it now..."Oh CRAP! Why did I do that!"

Do you have the cashier at the window hold your ATM card too for extra "wacky drunk guy" insurance?

If you have no money management or self control while enjoying a beverage or two, you will most likely lose the bet tickets while showing them off to people and be out the entire $2000 plus whatever juice you paid.

Talk about a sh*tty day after.

That is what shut-ins do. They read other peoples stories. Do me a favor book a flight, go to Vegas and see what it is really like. I know in your mind its just wild and crazy 24/7, with girls or whatever you are into, throwing themselves at you. I'm sure you have dreams of making it rain, playing craps with pumpkin chips ($1000 chips big man) and being the toast of Vegas.

I can't wait to read your report. I have been to Vegas countless times and it is true, that is how it is all the time. Make sure you let me know where the 5 cent books are.

I'm not sure where you're coming from.  I see you sidestepped the whole conversation about the fact that people do regret their actions the next day and just went straight to the foolish assumption that I've never been to Vegas.  I'm definitely no Vegas regular and have only been there a handful of times.  I do go to Mohegan about 2-3 times a year but definitely an extremely different vibe.  I don't have visions of making it rain or whatever.  Vegas has pretty much whatever you're looking for so it's not like finding a party is hard but it's not like I think women are going to be throwing themselves at me.  You are pretty far off topic and seem to want to avoid my main point.  This can help people.

The last time I went to Vegas, I was with my wife and we have a great system.  I put my wallet and cash in the safe and we only take out what we want to play (I let her lock it up).  She normally heads up before I do and when she leaves, she takes most of the chips/cash and I keep enough to play craps for a while and/or poker.

I normally would play for a few more hours and then hit the bed. The last trip,  I did moderately well in my late night sessions but I truly believe it was b/c I knew I only had a finite amount of cash and so I didn't get as crazy with my betting.  Instead of taking numbers on the hop, jacking up hardways or taking high horn bets, I pretty much stuck to placing a couple of numbers and playing the line.

My next trip, however, is in September and is for a bachelor party.  I know we're going to be partying like crazy and I know (from past experience when I used to gamble before I was married) that I can get wild and chase long shots with high house edges.  I believe that if I know that I only have X amount ($1K in my example) then I will be more responsible with my money and not tear through it.

My point is that you can't seem to grasp this and you refuse to acknowledge that nearly everyone knows someone or knows someone who knows someone who has gotten crazy.  You cling to this idea that people should just do XYZ and then you won't need that.  My point is that if it was that easy, then people wouldn't be fat.  Why don't fat people just not eat.  Problem solved!

You're view, while technically true, is simplistic at best.  If people only did thing they should do then people wouldn't gamble, they wouldn't drink, they wouldn't smoke, they would exercise every day, etc., etc., etc.  But that's not the way the world works.  I'm creating a solution for the real world and you're making an argument for a world that doesn't exist.

If you sit and sip ginger ale or only have a couple of beers at the sports book, poker table, craps, whatever then you obviously don't need this solution.  But to say that others don't is a bit naive.

You're going in September. Why lose the $100 and just put it on a high college football Moneyline?I mean upsets do happen and you would have the worst luck ever when the 20 point favored Alabama loses to UNLV at -1600 odds, but at least you won't be guaranteed to lose.

Also, I see -105 juice all the time so don't listen to the fools that say you can't find it ever. Granted, I haven't made a sports bet on the strip for at least 5 years, but Ellis island is William Hill and that's the book I usually use since they made a mobile app. Station casinos used to have reduced juice on Fridays.

Or give the cash to a friend back home and have him deposit it Saturday morning?

If you're making bets on #s on the hop, high horn, and press the hardways you could ddeep-six your bankroll at HooverDam and your money wouldn't be safe.

I live in Henderson. I can get to the Strip in less then half hour. Just moved out from your state, Indiana, last Oct. It's a really great area. Maybe that is why I differ so much from our friend that wants to spend $50/$100 to protect his money. I love to go to the strip and have a good time on the weekends, even spend some early weekday afternoons in the sportsbook when I can get away from work.

I would say for the most part the Vegas strip is great. Don't get me wrong I like to have a good time, but there is that 10-15% of whom I would call jag bags that can't handle Vegas. You know the guys I'm talking about. But hey, everyone has their own vision of Vegas and that is what makes it great. Just a reminder to the jag bags, the people you see laughing are laughing at you, not with you.

Enjoy the gambling, the women, the food and drink. If you have never been to Vegas get it off your bucket list now.

So I assume you are down with Bloomberg on the large soft drink ban in NYC.
