oh btw, you will need at least 100k to get started, if you cannot do this math, you are again dead before you start.

but I know you can!

100k puts you in the game on a serious level.

College football example:

base 150 picks over regular season, 1%, 2% or 3% risk per pick........

52.5% breakeven pt assuming laying only -110 juice..

55%  82.5 (round up) 83-68 (also round up 67.5).......15K @1% risk ....you get the idea.  A nice safe way to make pretty good money. 12 weeks for 15K profit, and 55% is doable.

The beauty is bowl season.  32 games, you have the "house" money of 15k going in, that gives a huge advantage to adding to the stake.

Everyone here understands the basic math.  The stickler is getting the 100k together in order to weather the drawdowns of a 1-9 saturday followed by a 3-6 saturday.

Good luck newyorkslim.  I agree with mafioso on the journal...it would be great to hear how it is going first hand.....books, documentaries, hell even a weekly podcast could all prove to be legit propositions.

Go get 'em..........

Here in vegas now for good. Not going back to Buffalo anytime  soon.

Closed on the condo and the new carpet and painted walls will be complete tomorrow.

Played blackjack last nite at the MGM - won $130

Going slow.... now that I am here.

Bet the LA Sparks for $200

First WNBA bet of my degenerate career.

So many deals on Condos out here. Dont know weather to buy another one and rent it (or flip it) - or just keep the cash I got left....

Hummmmm - lets go Sparks!

The Mrs America Pageant was here tonight at the LVH,....I was chatting with Mrs Virginia  in line at the coffee shop.

ME:   Did you bet the Sparks tonight plus the points?
HER: What?

Went to the Monte Carlo to play black jack, broke even, Came back to the LVH, went to a $25 dollar table - gave back about $300..

Pretty much dead behind even as on right now...

Continue this dance with the devil tomorrow. With some girl ball and diamonds.

Slim, you might want to consider getting a part time job. At least you'll have some source of income when you have those "break even" or losing days...and there will be some. I've worked in the Vegas casinos for over six years, and i've seen a ton of ideas and strategies. Even tried a few myself. They all have a flaw or two. Good luck with the dream buddy.

Thanks JHUDD, but I am staying away from table games from now on. I really came her for collage football and collage basketball.

Until that starts, I am just gonna lay low; maybe get a job to get me out of the house.

Any suggestions on a job that might be fun with some hot chicks?

Last year in an extended stay place, the kid next door was trying to make it as a poker player.  He had been there over 6 months and he played every night in casino poker games and once in a while, held a private game in his room.  He would stop playing around 6am when I was going out for my morning walk.  Some nights he said he won 180 or so, some nights he lost.  He sounded like he knew how to play poker, but he only had a small stake.  His father sent him the rent every month as he couldn't make enough to cover all his expenses.  Occasionally, I gave him left over pizza, etc.  It seemed like a tough life.  I believe he was going to try it for a year.  I wonder if he made it.

As has already been suggested, stick with what you know.  There is a reason there are so many deals on condos, so gambling on the strength of the Las Vegas real estate market may be somewhat unwise unless you have knowledge and skills that have not been disclosed in this thread.
Best of luck, hope you find the part time job with the hot chicks...and keep winning!

Well moved here to Arizona 5 years ago chose this spot because only 30 miles from Laughlin Nev, got all the things Vegas has just a lot cheaper to live and still close enough to do all the betting, blackjack and poker.  I did get a job that i work 40 hours a week but still plenty of time to do what I came here for and the job helps make it through the time when i dont bet on Baseball.  Plenty of Poker tourneys in Laughlin and they still have a few places to play single deck blackjack and if you tip the dealers they still go deep into the deck when its in your favor.  Im not killing it but making a good living at gambling  and the job is there for security reasons.  I found out that If I had a job I didn't question by bets as much.

I have been playing poker full time for 7 years and honestly i would not recommend anyone to take it up now , i have had the best and worst times of my life , i have been to Vegas about 15 times , lived in the Wynn for 3 months at one point and had a blast but it also takes it toll , i have been bankrolled by others at low points and have done the same for many people , im 29 now and am just now calling it a day , i had a great run but its time for me to move on , with work and commitment and if you have the persona anyone can make it in poker but it is a LOT harder than it ever has been to get going i promise. Just never sacrifice people for it ,and give yourself a time limit and money limit and once you reach that stop , if you making excuses after that then you are becoming an addict , and you will fall into the 95% of poker players who lose . And that is a real figure .

If you have a lifetime 24hr fitness membership there will be no rent expenses.

Been here 6 days. Have not even gambles since I moved into the condo. To much to do. Saw a great show saturday Night with a beautiful girl.

For me, Knowing I can amble anytime I want, kinda takes away  the allure. Which is OK. Collage football halftime line is where its at for me anyway. I could go out right now to any casino I want and play high limit blackjack,....But I won't.

I love this place. It beats the garbage out of Buffalo. And if your not morbidly obese,...then the heat ain't garbage.

FYI _ I bought my condo and car for cash. And fuckin stole them both.

i live in mexico and my dollar goes very far here. my monthly nut is already covered from income in the states and i gamble everyday with very little stress as my expenses are covered.

night out drinking with food   $50.00

one hour massage(i get five or six of these a week) $15.00

monthly food expenses eating out everyday $225.00

occasional puta(i am no longer active doing this as i have done well over 100 in 3 years of whoring) $50-60.00.

its a pretty simple life but i would recommend that you have sufficient enough income to live without having to gamble and to do so as only a supplement to your life.

there is absolutely no way i would ever live with the idea of having to generate 3k/month from gambling. im not to fond of the thought of premature aging.

Agreed. I have added up all my expenses and it will cost me about $1000 a month to live. With the money I have now, in cash , I could live for about 7 years. If i spend $1200 - call it 5 years.

I am going to take a smart approach to gambling as I don't need the money. I only bet when I see an opportunity as I am pretty good at spotting them.

i know its difficult as you will always be shopping for the best lines but try and find one book that you like and see if they will comp your meals/buffets. also, get to know the manager so you can call in your plays to save trips to the book.

money management, cutting expenses and avoiding vices(drugs/alcoholism) should be your main priority.

Here is my story. Im 22 years old, had a decent paying job , quit my job to try to succeed at gambling. Quit in late May, was making $50 dollar max bets and playing 4-5 games a night. Decided that maybe i could do this for a living and go back to school in the fall. Got my credit limit bumped up with the local to $200 max bets(win) and a 2k limit. Now i play my best 2 or 3 games of the night and do 0 parlays. Since i quit my job in late may i have made over 7k sports betting , and about 2k in home poker games. Its stressful, but it can be done. You have to stay disiplined and NEVER chase your money! Do your research, (I put in at a minimum of 6 hours a day) With all this being said, anyone who has the dream of doing this can succeed.Just make sure you have money to fall back on.

Why the need to go to LV?  Internet gaming has made it possible to wager from home here in paradise.  Don't need a huge bankroll as my monthly income suffices.  Home and vehicles paid for, surf when I want and visit friends in LV 3-4 times a year.  Wouldn't leave here for the world to me.  Medical insurance covered by the state, all cable, cell phone, Internet connections, water, electric, food and gasoline expense covered, insurance, covered by myself.  Bet for my enjoyment and recreation, don't want to do it for a living, would probably starve if I tried.
