I put in an 9 team parlay at an MGM resort book and the ticket says 20,000 when it should be 36,000. Is 20 grand the highest you can win on a parlay at one of these books?

Forunately I can afford to lose the 50 bucks. Thanks for answering the question though.

I cant beleive he had the stones to post he bet a 9 teamer.

His chances of hitting it are bad very bad, but I do wish him luck.

As for his question, They will pay you the payoff on the ticket minus the taxes ofcourse.

A little bit of advice, post your parlay in the appropriette forum and if you hit the first 8 and you are waiting for the ninth, then feel free to waste our time with answering your question.

Actually you didn't answer garbage,, the question was whether or not have a max payout of 20 grand on parlays, but you chose to focus on trivial garbage like the type of bet I put in, probably because you have nothing better to do with your life. Also NC, I guess the millions of people in this country who play the lottery are all losers too, since the odds of winning that are way worse than hitting a 9 teamer. Go darn yourself.

You angry pathetic little man you, You come in here asking quite possibly the dumbest question I have seen in 18 years of sports betting.

A 9 teamer, You had the stones to post you bet a 9 teamer, Worry about hitting it first before asking what the max payout is, and I did answer your question dipshit, If it says 20k is your payout on your ticket, then thats your payout.

Mafioso, you must be mentally challenged. The question right there in the thread topic is "DO THEY HAVE A MAX PAYOUT." because my parlay should have paid more than what the ticket said. You clearly don't know, so how about moving along and talking about your 25 dollar tennis bets or something

may I suggest a new handle and a fresh start for you- it's clearly a struggle for you to gel along with others here - and to call out mafioso over a 25 dollar tennis bet like that is more absurd than a 9 team parlay shows just how much knowledge (or lack of) you have in the world of gambling - just sayin,,you may want a new handle, and a fresh start

My 2 cents here............

First, you are obviously dealing with a question that is long since over....parlay cards are only used for the football season and are not used for any other sports. You can parlay from 4 up to 15 items (on some cards)...the big however as to payout is written in the rules on the back of the card...

Somewhat regardless of the listed payouts, there is a maximum amount of money that will be paid out to ALL winners of the parlay cards. The "parlay card pool" gets divied up and, sometimes, you will see payouts that will differ from the listed payouts. Please also notice that the payouts use the word "for" and NOT the word "to".....which means that 6 FOR 1 pays you back $6 for each $1 and NOT $7 for $1, which would be the payout for a 3-item parlay that is played off the board.

As to your statistical analysis of what the correct payout should be: Not only will you find a variance on parlay card payouts; but you will also find a variance, many times, on parlays that you play off the board. If you are as good with math as you assume you are, finding those variances and creating an edge for yourself would be the way to go when playing parlays.....max off the board is 8 items.

To further educate: ALL sportsbooks have a maximum payout on all parlays...be they on cards or off the board. And, they will always differ, statistically, from "expected payout"......

As noted by others however; If you are concerned about "statistical correctness" on a 9-teamer (or for that matter ON ANY PARLAY), then you are purely a recreational bettor and you do need to take a step back from thinking that the sportsbooks are "taking you" due to not receiving correct odds and just enjoy the fact that you were able to legally do something that is not available to you anywhere else in the United States.

Warmest personal regards,

VG

Well said VG  and it is his money and he can bet it any way he wants. The real fact is what the pay-off is on your bet card is the PAYOFF and if you believe something else then your a JACKOFF.

Turn the parlay card over and those sentences on the back tells you the rules for that particular parlay card. There are always max payouts. However, I would think it would be more then a measly 20k.

I said nothing about a parlay card. I went up to the window and put it in a 9 team college basketball parlay. I also went back to Mandalay Bay where I put in the bet asked the guy since I didn't get an answer and he said yes 20 grand is the limit for college basketball betting whether it be straight bets or parlays you can't win more than that. That's why I was wondering because the payout was exactly $20,000 and there were money lines in the parlay and theres no way it would have added up to that.

So yeah there is a max payout.

Hmmm thought you could only play a max 6 off the board. I only bet at the Wynn or Orleans/Gold Coast so I guess it's possible to be different at the MGM so figured you went off the parlay card.

OSC.....I'm being gentle here.....understand?....No hating and no judgement.

BUT, there is NO such thing as a 9-team parlay off the board at any MGM property, anywhere. Additionally, whoever at Mandalay Bay tried to explain limits to you was so far off base that he only confused the topic. I can only assume that whoever answered your question was either totally incompetent or was getting rid of you.

You can only bet 8 "items" (sides, totals) off the board in ANY parlay.

And as I told you earlier, every sportsbook (regardless of company)  has a max payout...whether that be on a parlay card or off the board...and, yes, it does not...statistically....match to "correct odds" because it is not supposed to. The variance is the house edge.

And, yes, once again....why you, as a recreational bettor are concerned with "correct odds" as they relate to "exact odds" is more a question than an answer. Can you no just enjoy the opportunity to place a bet rather than question whether or not you are being "taken to the cleaners" by the big sportsbook?

Just ask those writers from Covers.com who have to be satisfied with their government-run betting in Canada. I can guarantee you...100%...that they wish their opportunities for legalized sports gambling was as on-spot as what Nevada offers.

Let's move on...............

VegasGourmet, you come off as a complete arrogant douchebag. I know what bet I put in, and I'll believe the guy that works for the damn casino over you. It looks like you were proven wrong in a few threads before this when u acted as if u were some all knowing jerkoff. So yeah, lets move on.

I don't believe that I am answering you...........perhaps you could write Covers.com and ask for an answer from them.......

But there is no such thing as a 9-teamer off the board...it does not exist.

I do not know why you are hating this and I really don't understand your reaction to my posting, I am only trying to help you with the explanation as to why parlay odds differ from statistically correct odds.

Perhaps you can Google some gambling sites with your parlay question and find out there that there is no such thing as a 9-teamer off the board at any MGM property.
