UFC 9-4-0

Bellator 1-0-0

Strikeforce 1-0-0

Leans:  6-2

I am actually really looking forward to this fight card tomorrow guys.  There are some really interesting match ups style wise that can result in a fun and entertaining night.  We might as well make some money while we're at it!

Justin Salas (8U)- Over the last few years this kid has gone from just a wrestler to solid and well rounded mixed martial artist.  He's athletic, he's hungry, he's surrounded by a great team, and he's going to become a name in the lightweight division.  I like Means, I think he is a scrappy guy and respect his come forward type style.  I think this style plays right into Salas' game plan though.  These two will stand and trade, but once that length becomes even a wince of an issue, Justin will take this to the mat and grind on Means.  This thing probably goes to a decision with Salas winning at least 2 of the 3 rounds.  Book it.

Jared Papazian (5U)- This kid came into his debut on a little more than 2 weeks notice against a GAME opponent in Mike Easton and impressed the hell out of me.  The kid has one gear and one speed and always looks to press the action.  Dustin Pague is average at best.  Papazian should turn this into the gritty type scrap that he like and wants.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a stoppage here, but Papazian gets his hand raised one way or another.

Leonard Garcia (5U)- This fight seems like it was setup for the sole purpose of letting Leonard show that he can still make noise at 145.  He has has a rough go the last couple years having to fight both TKZ and Nam Phan twice each.  This fight with Grice should be a breath of fresh air for the Bad Boy.  I think Leonard ends this fight with a sub no later that round 2.

Leans:

Mike Pyle- I see a lot of Neer love on here.  I'm a big Josh Neer fan as well.  I have to go Pyle here though.  One thing stands out for me when I think of Mike Pyle and that's the way he outclassed the Brit sensation John Hathaway.  I don't do the whole MMA math thing, but that fight showed me that even at his age, Mike Pyle isn't taking his foot off the throttle.

Mike Pierce- Again, I like Rocha and what he's done in his prior UFC fights.  He's a huge welterweight with great jitz, but give me the wrestler who is not coming off a long layoff.  I said on another thread that Pierce looks to make a statement here after a couple hard-to-swallow losses.

Mighty Mouse--I had such a good time watching their first fight so i probably won't make a play here.  Gun to the head, I say DJ takes the W.  Uncle Creepy is an awesome fighter, but DJ has been in there with the best in the world @ 135 and has beaten some top level guys.  I think he responds just right here and takes at least 2 out of the 3 rounds decisively.

BOL tomorrow boys!  Don't get caught speedin'!  :)

I was on Salas pretty heavily in his first UFC fight and I was not impressed.  He was very lucky to win that fight IMO.  His MMA wrestling is not very good.  He really had difficulty executing takedowns and holding Kuivanen down.  In fact, I don't think he had any significant top game until the 3rd round when Kuivanen started to tire.

Means' take down defense is awsome, and is really a strong, technical striker.  Salas will be at a significant height, reach and strength disadvantage.  I really do not see how Salas wins this fight.

I do like your Papazian play and your top two leans...

Yea that fight with Kuivanen was a little sticky there for a while.  Kuivanen is good though!  Now that first fight is out of the way, octagon jitters should subside a bit, etc.

I never, ever bet with my heart.  Justin is a Colorado based fighter though, and seeing him from time to time in the gym and seeing him work out/spar, the guys a beast.  Don't get me wrong, Means and that reach does make me a little nervous, but I couldn't pass on Salas at plus money.  I really do believe that he is the guy with the more well rounded skill set.

I like Salas a lot.  Unfortunately I'll probably pass because the line is gone that I was willing to play it.  Definitely expect him to win though.

tailng pierce but waiting for a better line(-200). both hendricks and kos arguably lost their fights with pierce, one in TD's and one in strikes landed. rocha got outstruck by jake and was unsuccessful with both his TD and defense. both johhny and kos are, imo, a different level than jake.

liking pyle as well. he has shown he can successfully go three rounds and win while neer has not. i think he avoids the early sub and ko to hopefully get the win.

Argh!  Fack!  Got a little greedy tonight.....not wanting to lay the price on some guys.  On to the next card.  Time to get serious!  :)

Good fights though.  Watch out for Erick Silva.  Kids a savage.

Silva was very impressive, Brenneman's crushing 'in your face' wrestling didn't phase/drain him at all.

Good luck on the next card
