taking a look at the new england defense since week 9 as i did on the previous post on atlanta
since week 9 here are a list of qbs that they faced
Russel wilson - scored 31 in foxborogh and won
kaepernick 90.7
fitzpatrick 69.6
Goff 63.6
Flacco 83.5
Bryce petty 60.0
matt moore 105.6
osweiler 72.2
The pats do have a high ranking defense, but they will have their hands full with matt ryan as he does not fit into the qb group listed above whatsoever.
since week 9 matt ryan has 3038 yards, 26 tds, and an average qbr of 120.0

You realize this strength of schedule argument has been poked to death that it has zero basis in predicting future outcomes. Were you hiding under a rock during the Pittsburgh / Patriots matchup when the usual trolls used the Patriots weak SOS as their sole argument?

Yes you are correct, however I look into a lot and was posting what I found and thought was worth sharing. When bell went out of the game it became really easy to shut pitt down. The patriots are good at taking out the best option so when all they had to worry about was Antonio the job wasn't that hard. They will cover Julio and I'm sure butler will follow him all game which also accounts for butler for Atlanta. Atlanta has much more fire power on offense, two straight weeks in playoffs 4 different people have tds for Atlanta . Too many weapons, if Matt Ryan doesn't crack the defense only needs a few stops and Atlanta wins. That also being said, I think Brady is the Goat, hard to go against him but for me Atlanta wins.

I'll ask you the same question, where you busy or just not paying attention (like everyone else) the fact that Atlanta shut out Rodgers the first half and it was 30-0 before pack even scored? Or that Atlanta shut down Seattle also? The same Seattle that went to foxborough and put up 31 and won? Every week Atlanta can't win for this or that reason according To everyone, yet they continue to not just win but dominate. Same story here, everyone loading on pats -3 assuming no chance of Atlanta winning yet the line hasn't moved. Books will make everything they lost through playoffs and then some from all of the pats riders. The line will more than likely move but in my opinion atl and points is golden.

re: Green Bay game
What was the time of possession for each team in the first half? 20:05 to 07:39
What was Atlanta's 3rd down completion %? 76%
How many turnovers did GB have in the first half? 2 TO to 0 for ATL
Take away a lucky fumble recovery from ATL and a fluke INT from ATL and you have a totally different outcome. Green Bay's defense is nothing compared to NEP.
You are picking bad games to support your theory that ATL will be able to score at will against New England. I don't even have to say anything to support my claim that NEP will put up 30 points on ATL with little resistance since so many teams were able to do this in the regular season.
Only 2 Super Bowl teams have lost after putting up 30 points in the Super Bowl, Falcons will be just another statistic after this game, had a great regular season, lack of defense prevented them from capturing Lombardi in the Super Bowl. I already game examples of the top 20 highest scoring offenses since 1990 where only 4 of the teams managed to win the Super Bowl. Hell even the highest scoring team of all time only managed 8 points in the Super Bowl.
This will be a game of Time of Possession, not a game of who can keep up with all of the TD's being thrown into the endzone.

it will have to be a game of possession for the patriots to win. Seattle did exactly what they had to against atlanta a nice 9 minute opening scoring drive. Heres the problem, atlanta gets the ball too. in the past, super bowls have been won with the better defense for sure, and i do agree that brady is the goat, hes been a favorite player of mine for a long time. But, heres the facts the new england defense is slightly above average, atlanta defense is just playing well right now. I understnad the arguements i just think all around atlanta has the better team. with gronk this is a different game but hes not here. I think this is going to be one awesome superbowl and atlanta is going to shock the world again.

Yet again you are showing your lack of knowledge when it comes to the gap in skill level between these two defenses. You much too conservative when evaluating the NE Defense and WAY WAY WAY TOO generous when evaluating Atlanta's Defense. I believe your mind is clouded and confused by Atlanta's Offense. I am telling you, Patriots are hanging 30+ points on Atlanta EASILY, whereas the reverse is far from true.
NFL Team Opponent Red Zone Scoring Percentage (TD only)
07 NEP
32 ATL
NFL Team Opponent Yards per Game
08 NEP
22 ATL
NFL Team Opponent Average Time of Possession (Net of OT)

RE: All valid points my friend but you're missing a key point with Atlanta's defense in the second half of the year and especially vs GB and that is the pass rush, key ingredient to beating Brady. How many hits, sacks did Rodgers take? GB's OL is comparable to NE's, possibly better. The only way GB was able to do anything against Atlanta was Rodgers scrambling, something pretty boy cannot do. If and when Atlanta starts knocking him around, the game is over. I have never seen worse secondary coverage in a playoff game than Pittsburgh last week. They played zone in a Nickel and Dime formation which allowed ZERO pass rush and Brady to pick apart that horrendous defense. Atlanta has too many weapons on offense. I take nothing away from NE D but Atlanta's too much. Go ahead and try and double Julio, good luck. That means lots of swing passes out the backfield with the best running back combo in the game along with other guys like Sanu and Gabriel. TE Hopper will get in the mix as well. I absolutely hate going against the best dynasty of all time with the best coach and qb of all time. BUT Atlanta matches up very well with this squad and I believe they win 28-24.... GOOD LUCK

patriots offense strength is the hurrry up short out direct pass to soften the defensive blitz. this keeps the defense with the personal they start the drive on the field during the drive. the best play they have is two or three short passes to commit the line backers to chase the screens and hit them deepwith edilman jetting up the field each time.
Assante samuel was lazy if he knew he wasnt going to recieve the ball he do it different to spoil the short outs so it became a long ball game "selfish"
on defense they take the best favorite reciever away this case Jones. they will triple team if neccassary to stop the out. but where others fall for the trap Atlanta beat green bay without Jones having a big game his numbers during the season against gb was 3- for 23 yards.

Exactly, this answers shababa's concern about ATL having a pass rush. Belichick will analyze the hell out of ATL's defense and come up with schemes to make their best weapon(s) non-factors, it is what he does.
