Are They Pumping In 'FAN NOISE' in Minnesota...Again?!?
Question:
During the World Series between the Minnesota and Atlanta the Braves you may recall Atlanta complained that Minnesota was increasing FAN NOISE via pumping in more crowd noise.
Does anyone notice that the crowd NOISE is extraordinarily LOUD tonight in this Giants/Vikings game. Yes the stadium's shape is supposed to project sound onto the field of play. LOOKS LIKE ITS WORKING TOO. Deja vu..? Noise is really messing with Giant's play calling early.
Al Michaels was convinced of it. Please see details:
Minnesota's shennanigans were also documented in the St.Louis/Minnesota World Series:
"Yet there was controversy during the series concerning whether the Metrodome's technicians had been instructed by administration to turn the stadium fans on or off during gameplay to aid the Twins. It was revealed in 2003 that this had, in fact, occurred.[3]"

I read an article about the new stadium today. The acoustics are incredibly loud. The design of the roof echoes all the crowd noise. Fans complained of ringing in their ears the day after the Green Bay game. Supposedly they are making ear plugs available to fans moving forward.
I'm interested to know if the stadium is louder than Seattle or KC. There is a definite advantage to the Vikings Defense here. Most teams only use silent counts when they have to, and changing plays via audibles is tough.

It would be incredibly stupid to not design any new stadium to reverberate the crowd noise as much as possible. If you're spending a billion dollars you better be damn sure that your team will have the biggest advantage possible in the new place!
