So I guess we the fixed-games tracker thread got deleted straight away.
You guys will probably say that's because the NFL and Vegas got Covers mods on the phone.
I think it's more likely because we were all arguing.
I guess either's possible, right?
Anyway, I will settle instead for an explanation of big man calls from regular know-nothings like totallypsycho on the Lions line.
When a team starts out as underdogs, but are quickly hammered to a FG or TD, and a money line of huge chalk, don't you guys normally say it's because sharps pounced on the underdog line? Because they're sharps, and because their money is so large that they move lines?
So aren't the sharps on Lions, by your logic?
But I already see a few of you know posting the old 'lol, public going down, stupid fish, Vegas wins again.'
How does public move the line bigger than the big sharks?
Why is your prediction and 'Vegas secret' operating in the exact reverse way as you said last week?

Are you really this dense? The line moves with the money. There are a lot more "public" bettors than "sharp" bettors, and just because you bet big doesn't make you "sharp" either.
All it takes is one whale from China who won big on the baccarat table to unload on a team to move the line any number of points. Maybe this is the year of the Lion on China????

Books move lines to try and get 2 way action on games. If they collected the juice on every game, they would be happy. It could be a ton of public action that moves the line early or it could be some professional money that the books respect. Either way they move to avoid as much liability as possible. Sometimes it doesn't work and they'll need a team for their lungs since so much is stacked up on one side. But if they got even action every time, their lives would be a whole lot less stressful.
Now that that's out of the way, let's move on to handicapping games and winning money. GL to all today.

Buddy is right, the sharps move the line more than the betting public, saw a documentary on a vegas sharp, he would actually move the line in the way he wanted to then bet the other side of it, there is some validity to what he is saying, same as a horse race the last minute someone dumps a bunch of cash on the favorite and it goes to even odds, we all have the different views his is more accurate than what you are suggesting, yes it is most luck to bet, human interaction, a tip here, a floating ball caused by wind velocity, a missed tackle the possibilities are endless, none of us will ever figure it out.
