Denver was far from a Fraud, They were a Great team with a superb QB, Had the QBs been reversed and Manning was the QB for Seattle that Superbowl and Wilson been Denvers QB, Seattle would have been atleast a 13 Point Favorite.
Making a post like this takes away from how great Seattle was last season.

I agree..........& one tends to overlook how much better coached Seattle was. They knew exactly what they wanted to do vs Denver & then just did it.

3rd down conversions on offense and 3rd down defensive stops are a great stat to study. Good teams find ways to sustain drives and find ways to stop their opponents drives. This will lead to Time of Possession rankings and red zone opportunities. Staying on the field will lead to more TD's than FG's which will tilt the field to the strongest opponents.Denver converted 46.3% of their 3rd downs last season. Seattle converted 37.3% on offense. Denver's defense stopped drives 38.1% of the time on 3rd downs while Seattle stopped drives on 3rd down 35.8% . The stats quoted were for 2013 regular season games.

I like how the three example teams given (pats x2 & cards) all had late 4th quarter leads and it takes miracle plays to beat them. I'll take my chances with all three of those teams again.

What about the Saints/Giants SB in 2010?
Who was/is the better QB there?
The list of better QB teams to lose because of defenses can go on and on and on.
Point is that an dominant defense trumps a great offense much more often than not.
Why did Balt win the SB? If you say because of Flacco you are joking..

I don't disagree especially with 2 weeks to prepare. But great offense CAN win. I was merely pointing out how of all the examples those are arguably the worst three.

You keep reading posts by this guy, or one of his twenty other names ( Dawniewags, Dawn Marie, Dr Kilroy, Oldtimer, Fadeulosers ) and you'll be on bi-polar meds like him. How's the trash biz Bill

The most glaring example to me was the Marino era Dolphins. Now the long ball is commonplace, and a lot more stadiums have domes, but 30 years ago??? How long did all of his offensive records stand? I think Drew Brees just now beat his passing yards in a season.....
All that offense, the Mark Brothers at wide out, that all pro 'O' line, hell, even Reggie Roby the punter was an all pro!!
How many Super Bowl wins? Exactly......
To quote Dennis Rodman from the movie "Double Team"
"The offense gets the glory, but the defense wins the game".....

But let's remember, those 2 Gaint teams were very mediorce SB winning teams, in fact, the 2007 Gaint's were the weakest regular season team to win a SB.
That is very telling since it did not take a great team to beat the high powered offense Pats, one of the greatest scoring machines in NFL history, all it took was a very mediocre team with a strong defense.
The difference is Denver with their weak defense went against a great team and we all saw the result.
