I guarantee if EJ was drafted by a more media spotlight franchise the odds would be more like +800-1200. That alone tells you your bet can't be all that bad.
I actually made the same wager for 1k
A few things to consider...
1) If a QB wins ROY if will surely be EJ.
2) A QB has won ROY 6 times in the last 9 years. This is not a coincidence. I could get into how offensives are being tailor made for rookie's tools, or playbooks being broken down more to a science that rookies can handle than in the past, all factors leading to higher entrance success, but that's for another thread.
3) Buff has the best offensive weapons outside QB in the AFCE, a lot of speed and a top5 RB in CJ Spiller. There will be a lot of screens/quick reads/options designed to get the ball out of EJ's hands and into playmakers. They have two of the fastest receivers in the game in Marquis Goodwin and T.J. Graham. I watched a lot of Robert Woods and he will make an instant impact.
4) Buf Oline is probably top 10ish in league. Combined with a quick attack/option runs he will not be getting sacked/pressured as much as some uneducated people are claiming.
5) For those that think BUF intends to have him sit and watch. Get with the times. QB's touted as the face of the franchise start, bottom line, unless something goes horribly wrong and they realize the guy sucks or baring an injury, expect to see him on the field in early sept.
MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR - Buf has not made the playoffs for what? 12-13 years. So if a rookie comes in and they make it to the playoffs, even if it's on the back of a guy like CJ who averaged 6.0 ypc, EJ WILL win Rookie of the Year. Simply because the story. ROOKIE QB LEADS BUMBLING BILLS TO FIRST PLAYOFF BIRTH IN 13 YEARS!
So the real question... what are the Bills chances of making it to the playoffs? Well.. probably not as bad as you think. They have a lot of talent on the line of scrimmage and some playmakers on both sides of the ball. I would set a line at something like +350 to +400.
That makes this prop probably one of the best you'll see all season IMO.
Don't wait for the Bills to inevitably name him starter. That's a big reason for the +2000 atm. Once he's named starter, and 90% he will, the line will go down to a more respectable +800-1000.

Yes. I think it is highly likely he's starting week 1. Even if Kolb starts your bet isn't completely dead in the water. Kolb always seems to be injured, and if EJ comes in week 3-4 and helps Buf make playoffs he still has a good shot at ROY.
I like Bell and EJ for ROY picks.
