What a TERRIBLE pick. They could have gotten him much later. What a waste by a very stupid team. Perhaps the Bills staff was unable to find any Florida St footage from the last 2 years. A decent qb probably would have one at least 1 NC.....

04/21/2013 - 2013 NFL DRAFT: FIVE BOLD PREDICTIONS: 4. Florida State's EJ Manuel is the top QB drafted...He has all the tools -- mental and physical, leadership and competitiveness -- Chip Kelly wants and the first-year Eagles' coach is just one of the possible best-suited matches for Manuel. His release isn't pure; neither was Dan Marino's. He's a warm-weather product of a so-called college offense; so was Jim Kelly. Manuel can be the face of a franchise tomorrow, and in a draft class where every prospect brings a briefcase of drawbacks, this is a much of a "choose your flavor" scenario as there ever has been in a draft. - Jeff Reynolds, The Sports Xchange

Thats copy/pasted from cbssports.com. ARE THE F UCKING SERIOUS? Somehow whoever wrote this managed to compare EJ Manuel to Dan Marino and Jim Kelly.

I am speechless.

Weaknesses: Isn't the sum of his parts and did not make noticeable improvements to his game in 2012. Needs work on his setup and delivery. While possessing plenty of arm strength, he has a noticeable hitch in his delivery which gives defenders an extra split second to react and limits Manuel's effectiveness in the "quick" game. Has a tendency to stare down primary target. Average accuracy in the pocket and will get "happy feet" when pressured. Very poor ball security when on the move.

Those arent "weaknesses"....those are traits of a crappy QB. Not to mention, all that was facing college defenses. He didnt improve in college and cant throw accurately due to his poor mechanics and stares down receivers and when he tucks and runs he is a timebomb.....

1st RD pick?

Great pick. He is the Top QB in the draft. He is going to be solid for them. Christian Ponder went higher than he did and Christian Ponder was not better at FSU than he was. He was more successful at Florida St. with the same team than Ponder was. He is a better QB than Ponder and the Bills got him at 16 which was 4 spots lower than Ponder.

Whats so great about wasting a 1st round pick? Saying hes better than Ponder really doesnt mean much....

Ponder had been linked to the Vikings for a long, long, long time just shocked they didn't trade down.  Sometimes if you have your top player in your biggest need you just take them.  That is what the Vikings did.

He did play one of the weakest schedules if not the weakest in CFB both years and when he came up against a quality Defense ie Florida he did  nothing. He will be facing defenses better than Florida in the NFL.. Time will tell

Not a bad pick. Raw, with athletic potential. Brady on his way out soon, jester jets out of question, dolphins still rebuilding...high risk with high reward, the division is his to rule if he pans out.

Ben Roethlisberger 6'5'' 241  Peyton Manning 6'5'' 230  Tom Brady 6'4'' 225  Andrew Luck 6'4'' 234  Manuel was also talked about being "further along" than the other qbs in the draft, its probably why he was the first qb to go overall.

Todd McShea says this guy is "a project that won't work out" but that's just one man's opinion

By the way, I also have a bad release, but I'm not even a quarterback

It's a wasted 1st round pick. We've all seen the guy play & if he struggled that much in cfb what makes anyone think the light will turn on as a pro?

Had they waited til the 4th round to take him no one would've batted an eye.........but these are the types of picks that keep you in the basement.
