#4 Posted: 3/11/2013 5:09:19 PM Check out a few sites...........seems to be true. One thing I read on Yahoo, had an article "9ers should not overeact to Seahawk trade of Harvin"
I'm guessing a 6th rounder is not overeacting!
He's not a speed guy, never has been. But is tough as hell going for the ball. My make that p*s*y Crabtree shape up...... |

#7 Posted: 3/11/2013 6:48:16 PM They asked him to take a pay cut and he refused. I don't blame him. I knew flacco deal would come back and bite us. Pretty sure harbugh bros talked and he rather give him to his bro them another team. Next is gonna be Ed reed hope he comes back but unlikely will |

#8 Posted: 3/11/2013 7:16:12 PM ravens doing the right thing. most teams wait until a player is past their primes to get rid of them and overpay. boldin will be 33 nexst season and has had some major injuries. reed will be 35. this is what smart management looks like, only it usually isn't obvious until a couple of years later.

How do the Ravens not know how to rework a contract? |

#12 Posted: 3/11/2013 9:35:10 PM With pockets stuffed with draft picks... this is a nice pick up for the Niners. If he had been a Niner last season... and had the Niners thrown that last minute pass in the SB to Bolden... He would have caught it.
Hopefully the Niners get back this upcoming season and win it this time. |

I agree............they basically gave him away which, on the surface, looks like a strange move. They'll be hard pressed to replace him with someone of equal talent that's cheaper but it appears they're gambling on the fact that his impact won't be missed much based on his potential down time.
This happens so much in the NFL............guys get big contracts but never stick with the team that gave them the deal when the big $$ years of that contract arrive. SF gets a great receiver at a decent price. Not sure this is the best way for them to spend since they really weren't hurting @ WR, but if they get one great year outta him it'll likely be worth it. |

Boldin was never going to re-work his deal. He basically said, "I would never go back to management and ask for more money if I had a great year so I'm not going to honor any request for me to take less."

#15 Posted: 3/12/2013 12:57:19 PM Boldin, or his agent, don't seem to have any business sense. How do you not go to the Ravens and go "We understand you not wanting 6 mil against the cap. How about we take the 4 mil, and you give us 3 mil (7 mil total, actually MORE) one year after he retires. Or 3 mil spread out over X-amount of years after this one, when the cap GOES UP." |

Because this is more than just the cash to Boldin. It is the same reason he left the Cards. He felt disrespected and unappreciated for the work he put in and that means a great deal to him.
Arizona gave Larry a monster contract, over inflated and not really deserving..then they tried to cheap out on Boldin and he left..same thing this time.
Boldin was a huge reason why the Ravens were successful and why that moron Flacco looked decent in the playoffs..then the Ravens want to go and short change him. He has enough money, it is about respect and appreciation of his efforts. You dont ask a key member of your team who seriously helped you win the SB to take a pay cut.

I agree for the most part but hard to imagine that a 6th round pick was the best they could do.

Couple things:
What would Flacco have to do to become better than "decent"?
I offered up a way around the tremendous 6 mil to 4 mil drop by GIVING HIM MORE MONEY. That is some pay cut |

Being better than decent means more than a 3 game stretch, his career stats are what I look at not if he had some luck and some good games in one stretch.
You offered around the issue but to Boldin it is about how he feels appreciated and valued..not the money..not the paycut.
He feels like based on his play on the field and in the locker room he deserves market and top market pay..the issue is the way he was treated by Baltimore, not necessarily the money. They are saying by making him take a pay cut that he wasnt deserving of the contract they agreed to.
He left Arizona for the same reasons..he felt that due to his play on the field and in the locker room that he deserved similar compensation that Larry did..which I 100% agree with, but they tried to cheap out on him and he left.
All they needed to do is value and appreciate him, by asking him to restructure or reduce it was a major insult..

They were hurting quite badly at WR actually. Crabtree and then who?
Moss - Gone Manningham - Torn ACL and MCL (will likely be cut). Kyle Williams - Torn ACL Ted Ginn - Gone AJ Jenkins - Bust so far
They were FAR from okay at WR |

Raven's are doing the right thing.. we won the ring, now let some of these players get overpaid for it.. Kruger 5 years 40 million?? are you kidding me lol Ellerbe overpaid?? lol the Niners ain't making the bowl next year with or without Boldin in my opinion anyways. |
