Damn 9ers committed highway robbery.
Smith to Chiefs.

ESPN reporting they got the Cheifs 2nd round pick this year (#34) almost like a first rounder and Mid Round Pick unspecified next year.

SF will have 15 picks in a deep draft !!!!

Smith will get pummeled in KC but at least he will play.  with a massive target on his back though....  Good luck to him.  Damn Niners are going to be good for a while.

Could not agree more. He goes from the number one O Line to one of the worst. It is not about the QB, it is about his line and scheme. He will make Cassel look good.

I just don't understand some teams...

first Matt Cassel after one good year with Patriots and now you turn to Alex Smith

That's why they're the Kansas City Chiefs.

A 2nd round draft pick for a backup quarterback with limited upside, is just crazy.  Paid way too much.

Granted I think he's underrated, but they'll need to protect him, as he's a pocket passer.

Isn't if kind of funny , that we as "fans" are sure that Smith will fail but the "pros" did make the trade.
I am curious how it will turn out.
I have never been a fan of Smith though....

well the way i look at it the "pros" at Kansas City have had sh!t for brains for a long time

Some of these top guys are idiots and don't deserve.  JMO

But of course we'll see if it works out......as I said I think Alex Smith is a good qb, just not worth a 2nd round pick for a team that needs help.

But they didn't give a 2nd round draft pick. They are giving two second round draft picks; one this year and one next year, that is conditional on snap counts Alex Smith takes during the season. At worst, the 2014 draft pick is a third rounder.

Add to that they get him for 2 more years on the 9ers salary as a starter, what's that, $8+ mil never took a snap with the Chiefs

After that he's a free agent, he can do whatever he wants.

Anybody think the Chiefs are going somewhere the next 2 years?

I agree Smith not worth 2 2nd rounders.
Maybe one 2nd rnd

But Market dictates prices.

First Rounder and second for Carson Palmer
2nd round for Cassel
2nd round and rogers cromartie (Who was solid @ time) for Kolb
Mcnabb for 2nd and 6th (Especially end of career)
Brandon Weeden 1st rounder @ 29 yr old
Christian Ponder 1st rounder & Gabbert 7th pick

You also look @ this yrs QBs and there is nothing impressive. All inconsistent.

I'd say Smith 20-5 record and @ 28 years old is much better than any of those guys (Granted Mcnabb/Palmer were on end of careers)

Also KC Needs to win NOW.
Teams like KC, Jaguars, Bills, Browns have building for the past 300 or so seems like.

KC does have some talented players and playmakers on both sides of the ball.

The TV analysts say KC could make the playoffs. I think that's a little optimistic, but I definitely think they could win 6-7 games with a competent QB though. People point to Cassel's turnovers, but I noticed a lot of those happened when KC was down big.

2nd rounder is kinda high, but I think the original rumor of a third was pretty on par. You've got a groomed, veteran QB in his prime, with an accurate arm.

The pick next year is probably a conditional pick based on how well the Chiefs do. If Smith is their starting QB and takes them to the playoffs or the super bowl or something they could probably get a second round pick, but I'm sure the chiefs would be glad to give up a high pick for that level of success. Wouldn't you?

P.S. If I'm the niners I don't mortgage the draft for Revis or anything.

San Fran has been bad to mediocre for years, overhauling the team with young talent. That is why they are so successful. They have a ton of quality players getting paid rookie salaries.

In a couple of years the bill is gonna be due though. Just like they're paying Willis, Bowman, and now Goldson, the time will come for Iupati, Kaepernick, Aldon Smith, etc.

If I'm San Fran I either trade up for someone they really want, or trade swap some picks for picks in the 2014 draft. I'm pretty sure they don't have the roster space to bring on 15 guys.  Keep the mix of young guys and vets and they will be competitive for the next decade.

I'm sure the Chief's second rounder will be a highly sought after pick that they will likely end up flipping it for even more picks. After the first round ends, teams will be calling them all night to get a high pick in the second round.

i was excited when i saw this... jim harbaugh is going to fix the holes in the team and make  the D and o line stronger... Niners are going to be BEAST mode next year... broke my heart when they lost the super bowl.. couldnt watch espn or any sports for atleast 2 weeks... any ways KC are stupid.. when the picked up matt cassell.. reason why he was so good is because he came front an Elite front O line that backed up brady... put most QB's back there and they'll do average... now you're going from Niners Front O line to KC...... i just dont understand it... it's another Matt Cassell move.. deja vu.... niners taking it all the way next year.....
