#4 Posted: 2/11/2013 1:02:56 PM Wasted 16 million for the season, Vick will continue to be a turnover machine and the eagles will receive a top 5 pick next season in the draft.

#5 Posted: 2/11/2013 3:03:24 PM he'll be 33 and he's a running quarterback who gets injured often it's one big gigantic roll of the dice

#7 Posted: 2/11/2013 3:20:07 PM One of the best qb's you have ever seen? How can you make that statement? maybe one of the most dynamic, He had one huge win over the packers in the playoffs, other than that, Vicky has been an overrated under achieving bust. |

#8 Posted: 2/11/2013 5:10:13 PM in his prime he was a horrible qb who made some amazing plays every now and then. he did well against poor defenses and slow defenses but when he played good defenses that made him think even a little, he was usually a disaster. he had some great games but overall, he's the most overrated football player in the history of team sports.

#9 Posted: 2/11/2013 5:56:30 PM wow such a difference of opinion..
he made va tech into a powerhouse program (they've fallen in the last few years)
he put the eagles into the playoffs 2 years, i think he was runner up in leaugue mvp
and he put the falcons on the map. they were never a tv team, and rarely made the playoffs.
granted he didn't win a super bowl. but not every qb does. dan marino, dan fouts never did.
i don't think va tech, the eagles, or the falcons would say he wasn't a great qb, a game changer, when he was in his prime
jmo fellas.

#10 Posted: 2/11/2013 5:59:08 PM i guess you could say he was like rg iii, before rg iii
rg iii made the skins into a great team, but he got injured, because he's fragile, somewhat thin, and runs around, just like vick did
rg iii has a better arm though

#11 Posted: 2/11/2013 5:59:17 PM he was a great college qb, no doubt about that. he's the quickest qb i've ever seen in college or the nfl. but he was a disaster against good defenses and good defensive coordinators. i think qb's get too much credit when their teams win and too much blame when they lose. it's almost never appropriate, in my opinion, to say a qb got his team anywhere. anyway, i think vick was great at times but overall, on a consistent basis, was pretty bad and the most overrated player ever.

I can agree with most of that.
Like I said if you bash him, you HAVE to bring up turnovers, because he was turnover prone. Turnovers kill teams.
What doesn't get enough credit are offensive lines IMO. And Vick did not have great offensive lines.
Obviously Chip Kelly thinks enough of Michael Vick to give him another shot next year, so we'll see

#14 Posted: 2/11/2013 7:02:05 PM yeah turnovers are a big part of it but a lot of qb's can avoid turnovers by being smart, knowing when the throwing it away, reading defenses at the line of scrimmage and knowing where to quickly get the ball out to a receiver or RB before the blitz gets there, knowing when to run or take a sack, etc. vick wasn't good at those things. he believed his hype that his speed and quickness could overcome those things. they could in some games but against the better competition, his flaws were exposed.
i wish kelly had vick several years ago. if kelly translates well to the nfl, that could be fun to watch. i'm skeptical of kelly as an nfl coach and i'm not optimistic for the older, injury prone vick in kelly's offense. i'd love to see RG3 in that kind of offense.
i think RG3 could be what vick was supposed to be, but i'm not sure anymore after that injury and a serious lack of judgment on his part. that was so disappointing. not the injury so much as RG3's stupidity. he's one of the smarter qb's in the league. i hope he gets back to 100% and learns from that.

#15 Posted: 2/11/2013 7:33:50 PM well you stated it's not all about the qb, it certainly is about the offensive line
you could make the case that the eagles had the worst offensive line in the nfl. vick was harassed all the time
i agree there's a real problem with vick getting old, because as you said he relies on his speed and not his brains. just a slight decrease in speed will make all the difference a qb who relies on his athleticism
but as i said, if the eagles don't fix their terrible offensive line there's no way vick, or anybody else, is going to succeed next year imo
i flat out don't know about rg iii after that horrible injury. reconstructed mcl and acl on the knee he already had acl reconstruction on. may succeed, may never come back fully or get injured again, future is uncertain in my book
