I have seen some discussion by several on this forum, who mistakenly seem to believe the "smart money" was on the Ravens in the Super Bowl. That was absolutely NOT the case. The public was on Baltimore from two Sundays ago, shortly after the line was first put out, and continued betting them in large percentages for most of the next two weeks. The majority of smart money took San Francisco - 3 (bought the hook) and took -170 and -175, on the ML. They were waiting to see if the public would possibly drive it all the way down to - 3 (or 3.5 with less juice), but when that never happened, they came in and took more very late, laying the - 3.5 and - 4. To believe the smart money was on Baltimore in this game, is misinformed.

Now as to the game, the 49ers came were not very sharp (gotta put much of that on Jim Harbaugh) to start the game and got rattled after falling behind, and then the referees took over the rest of the game. This was one of the most lopsidedly officiated games in NFL history. From the beginning, through the 49ers comeback, and right up to the very end, key calls (and non-calls) repeatedly favored the Baltimore Ravens. The refs repeatedly hampered San Francisco's chances in a close game, by blowing these calls, right up to the blatant non-call on Jimmy Smith riding/holding/mugging (call it whatever you want) Michael Crabtree for an extended time, two full yards into the endzone (7 yards past the line of scrimmage). Say what you want, but there undoubtedly was plenty of blatant holding on that play, that clearly should have been called. It would have been first and goal at the 2 1/2-yard line. The playcalling by Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh on the last four plays was odious also. How you don't give the ball to Gore, or run a couple read-options for Kaepernick, after that drive - against a tired defense missing one of it's key players (Ngota) - will never be properly explained. Then again, that's a whole other story.

only game that someone could argue was officiated worse than this one was the Seahawks - Steelers Super Bowl... otherwise there's no other game in the discussion...

i personally will never watch another NFL game after this bullshit... the rat in the maze eventually learns to stop pushing the buzzer that shocks them... if you are stupid enough to still watch an NFL game after what we saw yesterday, you are officially stupider than the rat in the maze...

Blah blah blah, that's how it feels to be on that side.  To be honest sf and Baltimore shouldn't even be in the sb in the first place. Should've been gb and Denver.  If you watch the game as a fan you will be happy or complain. If you observe as a gambler, you just hope you're on the same side with the house majority of the time.

Your right. Was stupid for me to split my bets between the +4 and ML. Should of just put it all on the Ravens ML!

I totally disagree in regards to the officiating..If it wasn't for the 4th down play, not one person would have mentioned the refs.  The issue is they didn't make that call the entire game, so how can you do so when the SB is on the line?  If I was the ref I would have never made that call.  Plus the ball was poorly thrown, out of the end zone...If he would have hung it up there like he should have then maybe there is a different result.  SF lost this game on its own, from the once again terrible start that was a trend down the stretch, to the bone head play calling by not running the ball or using the read option to score inside the 10 yard line.  I would have ran it all 4 downs..

Overall I think the refs did a tremendous job of letting the game play out and not getting too involved, as it should be..

dem stupid ravens fans with jerseys were much, much fewer.

as for jerome boger, i was pleasently surprised by his crew.  they let both teams play.

as someone said, they didn't want to make the call that changes the game.  people were grabbing all game, on both sides.  that's football, as it should be played.

i don't hear you talking about the 45 minute blackout that was essentially a time out and let the 9ers get their feet from under them and change momentum

if you ask me the biggest plays weren't ref calls, they were turnovers.

I agree, they let both teams play. What a total of just 7 penalties for a mere 53 yards combined. Was the 4th down a hold on Crabtree, maybe. However, how are you going to award a team a TD on a crappy play call and throw. If you can't score from 1st and 5, you don't deserve a call like that.

No, it wasn't a hold.  They weren't calling it all game.  It just happened to be the biggest play on the game, that's why there's whining.

Don't go crying about the officiating. It works both ways. Where was the flag when one of the 49ers drilled Flacco when he was clearly 3 yards out of bounds. As for the 4th down no call in the end zone, were you complaining two weeks ago when Navarro Bowman clearly interferred with Roddy White on 4th down at the 10 yardline on Atlanta's next to last possession. Admit it the 9ers got beat by the better team.
