Chip Kelly is known for his relentless offense in college, which incorporated a lot of no-huddle and continuous pressure.
In my opinion, with the way the head coach hunt was going in Philly, this is a huge signing. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going to pay him, but after he was taken off the table and said he was committed to staying at Oregon after a great offer there.
But, it was do or die time in Philadelphia, and they DID. I'm not an Eagles fan at all, but I'm happy they made this signing.
So, with his style of offense, is Nick Foles or Mike Vick a better starter, or do they go outside and hire a free agent, make a trade, or even draft a quarterback who can learn a new system.
Vick seems like the obvious choice initially, but the biggest thing you need for this style of play is a quarterback who can play a 16 game season, and Vick hasn't shown that he can do that over the past few years.
Anyways, not sure if people had heard, and I know people probably only care about this upcoming weekend right now, just curious what bettors thought about this moving into free agency.

two, he will be a complete failure in the nfl along the lines of spurrier.
three, i'm sure philly way overpaid for him.
everyone loses here- kelly, the eagles, the fans, oregon.

I 100% agree that it's a big loss for college football, and that Philly likely overpaid him.
However, for Kelly, I'm POSITIVE he thought of every option and possibility before taking this job, including the fact that he COULD fail in Philly.
With that in mind, I personally believe that getting a good defensive coordinator signed is his most important move! It's tough to adapt from College to NFL, no matter how you did in College. The hardest part is building your coaching staff (I would guess at least), and in the case of the Eagles, you NEED a solid 'basics first' minded defense.

There are also many holes on the defensive side of the ball: linebacker, corner, and safety.
Who is he going to bring in as defensive coordinator?

that would be a different story and i wouldn't be surprised although
transfer to head coach of East Oregon A & M Technical Institute at $50,000/year > head coach of eagles for $30 million

Remember this is the first coaching change in 14 yrs, not bad for an organization. All will be on the front office and how they draft. Heres hoping they get it right.  |

definitely need to wait and see. that's just my opinion which obviously could be way off. plus, oregon is my favorite team to watch and i'm sad to see him leave, although i suspect they'll hire someone from the inside and hopefully things will stay close to the same there.

Tim Tebow comes in to run the offense until he can find a young guy in the draft to fit his system.
Eagles trade for Dennis Dixon of the Pittsburgh Steelers
Kelly drafts 2 or 3 fast qb's mid-draft |

Everytime his offense faced good defenses (Auburn, Stanford, LSU) it came to a screeching stop. Every NFL defense is better than those 3. |

IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER IF IT'S HIM OR FOLES AT QB
THAT OREGON OFFENSE IS A RUN BASED OFFENSE NOT A PASS BASED OFFENSE
WHEN HE WAS COACHING AT OTHER SCHOOLS HE WAS USING PRO STYLE OFFENSES AS WELL AS SPREAD OFFENSES

Tebow can't run Kelly's system, it's not heavy on QB run options.
As for needing athletes, that's the one the Eagles are rich with on the offensive side of the ball. Desean Jackson, Damaris Johnson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy. Work in some Bryce Brown in there as well. I just want to see who is going to be the quarterback...
