Road favorites playing at #1 seed in Conf Title Games all time..

Are 4-1 ATS and SU
The only #1 seed to ever be a home dog and win in a Conf title
Game was the 1976 Raiders who were at home and a 4.5 dog to Pitts.

Road favorites in Conf title games are 6-3 ATS overall. There were a few instances where the #1 seed was not involved in the game.

FYI the last time it happened was the 2004 season when the Pats were a 4 point fav at #1 seed Pitt and the Pats won and covered easily

Another fairly recent example was the 1997-98 NFC title game. GB was a 2.5 point fav at #1 seed SF

most bettors who have been at this for a long time are already aware of this... this is not a "trend"... there is a reason road favorites win in the playoffs... and there is a reason the books make these teams the favorites when they do...

The other two instances were the NFC title games in 78 and 79

What do previous results from years ago, by different teams, have to do with this Sundays game?  It's just nonsense.

No matter what happens this week, I can assure you that it didn't happen cuz of that crap about being 4-1.  That's for certain.

I was actually in January of 2005 and I was at the game. if i remember Pitt lost 41-27 and it was the year Pitt went 15-1 in Ben's rookie year. After the game I remember Hines Ward saying to the press, " Man it was like they knew what plays we were running on offense and defense". Mind you this was before anyone ever heard about Spygate. But obviously they DID know the plays and otherwise I am sure Pitt would have won 41-27. Only reason they really lost was because of INT's by Ben in crucial spots. But my point is not to use this as a trend stat because of Spygate.

well....its not a lie to support this thread because the Vikings were the #1 seed that year, not the Giants. Pretty sure Minnesota was 15-1 that year?
