If Train gets +110 for -3 and +143 for -5.5, he is giving up .33 cents worth of juice to buy 2.5 points.
That means he is paying .33/2.5= .132 per half point which is more than any site would charge (i.e. the standard is .10 per half point and that is usually considered a ripoff unless you MUST buy down from 3 or 7 or to 3 or 7 from 3.5 and 7.5 which is understandable and one of the only times it's excusable).
Not saying this pick won't hit, I'm just saying it's a bad bargain and you're paying too much. At most you should be paying -135 for -5.5. |

Thats all assuming -3 was +110.....which it wasnt for me at the time.
Also, you have to factor in 4.5, 5 and 5.5 are dead numbers.

Well if it was lower than +110 you were paying even more and I never saw it higher than 110 anywhere.
Anyhow, 3.5 is a key number (the biggest key number there is actually) and to 4 and moreso 4.5 are still a key numbers in many regards (i.e. there are games you were dissuaded from playing because of 4.5 vs. 4 in the past). All others are dead yes.
I think 3 +110 or +115 or +105 is just fine. And if not, I would even buy down a .5 pt off the 3 before I paid what you are paying to get to 5.5. This squad still needs to show some offensive efficiency and throwing around an extra 2.5 is no small order. |

You're theory is flawed simply because I was selling, not buying. Of course the book isnt gonna give you quite as good of a deal. Its common sense.
You focused on the wrong details.
