Betting on Falcons is playing w/ fire.......I'm not betting Oakland or anything, but I am waiting until our first loss, or at least another loss ATS (Panthers). Until then we will be 3+ points overvalued for every game.

I'd say the Raiders aren't much better than the Jets. But the Jets covered against Houston by throwing the ball and special teams. I see this matchup as similar.

Atlanta is 10 x better then the Texans - especially at home - the falcons will score almost every possession - how can the raiders secondary stop Jones, White, Gonzalez and the Falcons have Turner - they have a very balanced attack - plus Oakland is on turf here - they play on grass at home. It's practically impossible for both undefeated teams to cover the spread - FALCONS COVER - TEXANS FAIL
GREEN BAY WILL WIN

- this has nothing to do with this current thread but I had 14 out of 16 games correct in week 2 of the preseason - if I had 15 I would be the proud owner of $9000 - it still hurts to think about it I finished 16th ATS overall in last years contest - witch is very high considering how many people were playing. - I also predicted the Superbowl matchup correctly from the start of the playoffs last year - as well as the rams over the saints in regular season, Jacksonville over the Ravens and a few other large upsets.

@seattleseahawks
I could argue that the reason Atlanta was at -9.5 was to see what the public's perception was and not to scare the public. The line has gone down now to -8.5 and may attract more bettors towards Atlanta. The Hou/NYJ line has little to do with this line IMO. If Atlanta is better than Houston then I could argue that Oakland is better than the Jets and will cover the spread just as the Jets did. I could also argue that Atlanta beat Wash by 7 and that may be the reason or maybe its because Atlanta is 5-0 and Oakland is 1-4.
If the books get 50/50 action then they've gotten exactly what they want. They will make their money somewhere else. They don't always know who's going to win either.

If they win big... they why is that 9.5 vs 10.5 such a big deal?

@dl36
Exactly. 10.5 makes a big difference. If it goes that high I might consider making a play on Oakland. Well said mate.

-10.5 could be the difference between winning and losing. This doesn't make much sense if it makes any.

The Texans line last week started at -8.5 and grew to -9.5
so the Falcons line is dropping it would be the opposite of what the Texans did right? - any way Oakland is on the road and their defence is pathetic. Matty Ice Ryan is playing lights out right now his passes are right on the money and he is in his own building with his own dirty bird fans - Atlanta has had a sick home record over the past few years - oakland has to go there knowing their season is toast - they are not going to make the playoffs - they won't be super pumped - Atlanta will be - if you take oakland your nuts - ATLANTA IS WINNING THIS GAME BY 28 - 35 POINTS - YOU HAVE MY WORD - THIS IS A TOTAL BLOWOUT GAME - THE LINE IS LOW - IT SHOULD BE ATLANTA -16.5 - IF YOU PICK OAKLAND - YOU NEED TO STOP BETTING

The line never went down to -8.5 and instead it will grow to -10.5 because at -10.5 they are begging people to take Oakland - and some people will be gullible enough to do so. - The way I figure it - if your taking Oakland your either 1. Stupid 2. Work for a sportsbook 3. you are telling people to take Oakland while you are taking Atlanta to get money on the other side of the bet so you can increase your own profits taking Atlanta. A guy who is notorious for doing this is      Plisskin 76, also FrankT55 but i haven't heard from him in a long time and he was old so maybe he has passed on.

Wrong! Yes it did move down to 8.5 at numerous books and in fact still sits there at some major books including bet365 (the old bowmans), and in fact it's not budging back up at those books yet despite people heavily betting the Falcons.

Appreciate the angle...I have one pointing to OAK, so I will either play OAK  small, or pass on game.  This post was funny when you made me think about witches getting high!!  Not hating, just saying.
