So Bator, are you saying you see the Niners as quality enough to stay away from this trend? Or are you just saying lazy/satisfied aren't the right adjectives?

The former.

The 49ers were -2.5 faves for the NFC championship game last year and now they're at -6.5 for this game, Considering the Giants beat them in that game and went on to win the Super Bowl after that I would say this line is set to attract Giants money, Might be best to pass on this game since there are so many strong cases for both sides.

Cool trend, I was already leaning NYG ML because of a different trend I've noticed this season. But this nifty trend makes me like'em even more. Thanks for the info

Week 6 plays:

Tenn, Giants, Atlanta and Washington

I noticed this trend for this year is after a blown out at home or the road, then going on the road = NOT COVERED ATS Except from MNF game.

1.Denver @ NE after blown out Oakland at home
 2. SD @ NO after blown out KC on the road(back to back road game),
3. Houston @ Jets after blown out Tenn at home
4. Giants @ Philadelphia after blow out Carolina
5. Miami vs. Jets after blow out Oakland at home
6. Jets @ Pitts after blow out Buffalo at home
7. San Diego vs. ATL after blow out Tenn at home

The only games that were blown out & then covered next games were:

1.  Baltimore @ Philadelphia after blown out Cincy on MNF game. 2. Chicago blown out Dallas on MNF but then next game covered         against Jacksonville on the road.

= pick Washington because MN blown out Tenn at home, now travel to WAS...predict won't cover!!!

Blown out on the road and then come home COVERED:

Indy got blown out by Chicago in Chicago, week 2 at home covered against MN

Tenn got blown out in San Diego, next game covered against Detroit

Buffalo got blown out by Jets in week 1, come home in week 2 covered against KC.

Miami got blown out by Houston in week 1 in Houston, week 2 covered against Oakland at HOME.

= pick Tennessee

2 Consecutive blown out game (MBATOR) = Giants pick (34-0 & 43-3 by San Francisco)

Got blown out on the road and now on the road again = pick against OAKLAND Raiders = Atlanta Falcons

Imo when the author of the infamous trend himself is advising that we avoid the trend this week and simply respect the Niners at home, then I'd say take his advice.

I got SF in the SuperBowl already. But one thing I know for sure. The Giants haven't forgotten all those hits Eli took b4 that victory. Look for him to be on his A game. I know that garbage hurt.

This is an excellent post and while these trends are factual my advice is to stay away from this game.

Does anyone have trends on TOTALS for two teams coming off a game scoring 40 or more. I have a feeling this would result in a lot of UNDER. I was leaning under for this game.

The Giants are amazing those recievers always find ways to get open
- when I saw Welker drop that pass I garbage my pants - I knew the Giants were gonna score and beat us - They are called big blue for a reason - no way the Niners can win by more then a field goal - 4 points at the very most - people are impressed with 9ers wins over the shitty Bills and Jets so that equals Giants not favoured - the Giants should be favoured in this game - 9ers ran into buzzsaw defense with minnesota - The Giants are the same thing - this is an absolute LOCK - that word can get tossed around - but here people will feel silly that they bet niners by more then a field goal

The Giants love being the Underdog and on the road - has every already forgotten the two superbowl runs - THEY WERE ON THE ROAD PRACTICALLY THE WHOLE TIME - LOOK WHAT HAPPENS - THEY LOVE QUITEING CROWDS - THEY WILL SHOW THE PROMISING 49ERS WHO IS STILL THE NFC KING - I'D PUT A CROWN THERE BUT IT"S NOT AVAILABLE.

Not sure it it has already been mentioned, but what about the Manningham effect? Sure he'll pass onto the defense what he knows of the Giants offense and Eli's tendencies. At the same time, one would think Coughlin is aware and the offense will change things up a bit, but you never know. Similar to what Gruden and the Bucs did to Raiders in the SB when Gruden jumped ship that following year.

Great thread. Unlike many others where often the author is often criticized for having an opinion.

Think the niners win this one big. Niners are too hungry and you guys are not taking into account that their offense is still developing and peaking. Nyg is a good team but not as good as you all are giving them credit for. Niners 31 nyg 13 imo. Gl

Manningham - might have a soft spot for the Giants and might not be super motivated to beat them - he is a professional - but I bet when he looks at his ring - he gets nastalgic - haha - niners have improved - but I will take Eli and the Giants recievers over Alex Smith anyday - should be a hell of a game somebody is winning on a field goal - no way the niners put a beat down on the Giants - no way!

Thats why I was scared to bet 49ers...but my gut is telling me it's a coin flip here. Past trend won't matter much here, Giants either lose by 4 or 7 points. The spread is 6.5 last I checked...so coin flip city in this girl. I do like Giants on Teaser though for sure.

it's too small a sample to draw any meaningful conclusions. many a million were lost by people fooled by randomness that is the nature of nfl football.
just take a guess and pray -)
i'll try 49ers -3.5

The former.

Not to mention the Giants secondary is pathetic and they have no pass rush against this team who runs the ball and passes quickly.
