Eli is in his prime and they just became 2x more explosive with the addition of David Wilson and subtraction of Tip Toe Bandit Jacobs.

Defense is coming back and returning second year 1st rounder CB Prince, their best CB who was out last year Thomas, their freak of nature JPP and their whole defense

Am I missing something here?

When it comes to projecting super bowl futures this early on, the biggest key is ease of division. Being that the Giants play in the NFC East, it's an enormous stretch to project them as favorites to win anything right now--it's tough enough to win that division which has historically proven to be a coinflip every single year. Meanwhile the Patriots have to compete with the Jets/Bills/Fins, and the Texans have to compete with the Colts/Jags/Titans. That's really all it is at this stage of the game.

Its probably because of their schedule. Their out of conference schedule is insane. They play the afc north and the nfc south. They also play green bay. Meanwhile, the nfc north plays the afc south and nfc west. The nfc east will most likely only have 1 team in the playoffs this year

Honestly for the start of the season they deserve to be the top dog but in all honesty do you really think that team can repeat? Niners Packers Eagles Cowboys.... im not saying these teams will win im just saying they all have that same opportunity if not better

Truthfully its because regardless of winning the superbowl, they just arent that good.

Everything came together for them last year and they went on a monster run, that is all.

they were a 9-7 team that went 3-3 in division play, Hell for as much grief as I gave the herpes spreador Michael Vick, atleast Philly dominated the division going 5-1.

So the reason they arent favored is because they will fall back to planet earth and have a losing record this year and the sportsbooks know it and they will not overvalue this team at all, and all of you will think they are being undervalued, You will bet them and get taken to the woodshed.

How long ago was the Denver repeat? About 14 years ago. Too hard to repeat or even get back the next year.

Giants have a tough schedule + everyone in the league will be gunning for them.  The NFC is all very tough.   They did look like they might repeat in 2008 before Plaxico blew a hole through that.

NFC east this year may not even be won by them and may also have 3 teams coming out of that division.

Is this thread a joke? Because they suck and have no chance at winning the division this year.  That's why

They're arguably the worst team to ever win the Super Bowl (with exception of the 01 Pats)

Errm don't the Giants have that Eli what's his name??? I heard that guy is pretty good plus if beating the Falcons, Packers, Niners and Pats makes you the worst Super Bowl winner then I dont know, I might as well go take a nap or something.

It's your post that's a joke. Their division is wide open IMO. Hardly the worst ever to have won SB since Manning had one under his belt already.

Yes, they beat a falcon team with absolutley zero creativity on Offense.

the pack beat themselves that game but we will give them that one

they beat San Fran due to fumbles because of the 49ers backoff kickoff return guy.

and last but not least, some how some way after the pats scored 3 straight times allowed the Giants back in the game.

As I said, Yes they went on a great run, but they are not even the 2nd best team in there division let alone the NFL

they got hot and rolled with it, but they will not make the playoffs this year.

Any takers on that?

The key word was " beat " in your statements. It's not apparent to me that they rank 3rd in the NFC east at this point. Giants are one of the streakiest teams I've ever seen and should never be discounted from playoff contention preseason.

What odds are you giving if I put up a friendly wager of $10?

Once again the team that won the SB got hot at the right time and rode the wave.  Not to mention, I think everyone in their division got better this off season.  Giants almost didn't make the playoffs last year.  They also gave up more points than they scored.

Also, the last 2 SB champs...GB and NY....went 5-0 on the road in the playoffs.  How often does that happen?

Greenbay was actually better than their record that year, they were bitten by the injury bug that year, they had 16 very good players on I-R that season, what you saw last year in the regular season was the real Greenbay, what you saw in the playoffs was a miscarraige of justice, a fix, call it whatever you want.

I always thought the only stat that matters is WIN the Game, especially in single elimination Playoff Games...

Wrong the only stat that matters to me is ATS

Against The Spread.

and totals.

Take your fan love for your team to fanhouse.com or some other ra ra forum.

Here, we disect games and and in our infinite wisdom we state if a team was great or just went on an incredible run, Your team went on an incredible run and a-lot of things bounced there way including Tony Romos injury the week before the playoffs started.

Its the cold hard truth.

They got hot at the right time.  Doesn't mean they were the best team-far from it.  Before the Jets win that sparked them, they lost to the Redskins at home.

They got lucky like the Kings did. Books are not stupid they know they won't win again.  They'll give you some nice odds.

If you do a search, You will find that I had a moneyline parlay with Giants and the Under for the superbowl, I also bet them against the 49ers and Atlanta, I did lose with them on the Packer game.

See, For me its all about the money, not where Im from or which athletes jock I want to suck the sweat of like so many fans.

Its all about money for me.

I can still call a spade a spade, they werent a good team, they got hot at the right time.

Why do you find that so friggin hard to grasp or comprehend?

A so so team that got hot, thats all.
