The guilt of doing absolutely nothing about boys being raped by his buddy is sickening and I have no sympathy for this mo fo. He could have prevented alot of pain and emotional scarring for other families but he turned a blind eye.

Bear Bryant died a few weeks after his last game coaching, when asked what he would do in retirement, he said, "probably croak in a week."   Bryant and Paterno were friends and Paterno's quick death is no surprise to me.   Now, they can game plan together.   Btw, Bryant died Jan 25, 1983
Unfortuately, it will make "the mess" even harder to figure out.
Could he have done more? I'm sure he could have, he has even said as much, but he will be judged by God.   No one in this forum is without sin.
Prayers go out to his family.
The man obviously did a lot of good in this world as the tributes from the Penn St. family will pour in.   I understand the negative comments as well, we are all entitled to our opinions.

Hindsight is always perfect when we know what we know. Going to one's supervisor is certainly understandable in a hierarchy when you are hearing a story from someone else. Remember.....Sandusky fooled a lot of intelligent people - including parents - over the years.

I think he died of a broken heart. Broken by his mistake of not doing the right thing all those years ago.
Also, broken by the public not forgiving his mistake.

Long history of Goodness that was crippled by serious bad judgement, but he is not the total blame of Sandusky, he did way more for people then against...I think the man upstairs will welcome him with open arms, of course if DEATH is what is the penalty for his error in judgement then that is the toughest penalty you can pay, and everyone knows that the stress of losing a legacy has led to this..Musberger said today, that Joe knew he wouldnt last 6 months without football...and he didnt ..so my opinion is think of the good of the man and let the law dictate his wrongdoing in Sandusky trial...RIP, Joe!

Fuck him. I hope he had a slow, painful death and suffered even worse than all those kids that Jerry Sandusky molested. He knew what was going on for years and did nothing about it. He could have put a stop to it and just looked the other way.

I never liked the fucking guy anyway. He always thought he and the Penn St football program were better than everyone else and that they could just do whatever they wanted to do.

i don&#x27;t give a rats ass about Paterno... the guy spent his entire life putting himself above other people, and believing that he was above other people... that is why he ended up the way he did...he&#x27;s gone!  end of story... this is not a football related issue, in my opinion... he&#x27;s just a guy who died... let&#x27;s keep this stuff out of the NFL forums please... today is about football!
