OK, misleading headline. Last week I was gonna post my picks and use that headline saying he is on the Chiefs, because I bet the house (literally.....) on the Chiefs beating the Raiders. I am a huge raiders fan and felt it was a terrible spot for them, as the line went up and up it just astounded me beyond belief. After that bet worked out so well I figure what the hell. The lines are local.
I live near the heart of bmore so this lines always a little inflated. Still love the Ravens here though. They are 4-2, with the only losses vs subpar teams with a strong front 7 and caught the Ravens on the road on letdown weeks. It takes a very specific set of circumstances for this team to lose. Flacco threw 38 times and they ran 8 last week, expect a VICIOUS ravens d and a focused/balanced offense to carry them in a blowout. In their four wins vs Jets, Steelers, Texans, and @Rams, the margin of victory was 22.5 points. Note also I am a Raiders fan, not a homer pick here by any stretch (I could care less). A final thought, the steelers and cards had a physical game last week and now the cards travel. They don't have the front to hurt ravens weak o-line.
Saints dominated a colts team that quit, at home, during a night game, fired up to impress their hurt coach.....good job. The browns could have laid 40 on the Colts with that lackluster effort they gave (ok lets not go that far). This week the Rams are home and fired up, the Saints will be taking them lightly with a trip to play the bucs next week on their minds no doubt. Let-down spot + trap game on road + 2td spread = easy choice for me. I HATE taking Rams or Dolphins but sadly, this is one of my biggest plays.
Last time the Jags won, they lost by 29 the next week. This is no different. Texans want a 3 game winning streak to show they turned the corner and despite a blowout win, they will be hungry facing a jags team that raped the ravens. Common sense says.....jags beat ravens....ravens crushed texans...jags should beat texans. I say horseshit, thats what the masses want to believe. Truth is, jags heard about how good they are all week. Crawled in bed after the home win feeling confident in a young core. Now they head on the road, on a short week, after a VERY physical game against a rising AFC team.
Wish I got them at +3 but oh well, I feel strongly that they win SU. Tarvaris jackson is game-time but he will play. The lockout hurt his chemistry with offense but it's coming together now. Don't read into the browns game too much, they have a stellar d and with a backup rb and qb on the road what did you expect. Now the shoes on the other foot. Bengals come in with a first-year QB and a backup RB (bernard scott filling in) and are favored in Seattle? Shocking. Let's see how well he does blitz pickup and hot reads before we consider him an upgrade over benson as some critics are claiming. 88% chance of rain here will slow these pathetic offenses to a crawl but the hawks will make plays at home as always.
Seahawks 17, Bengals 13
I made a trip to delaware to visit a friend and swung by a casino to play a few parlays. Gotta say it always feels good to have that slip in your hand, official and legal and 100% sure you'll get paid on your command. Can't wait for the day every state lottery will have slips just like keno/mega millions that you bubble in some numbers and place bets at any gas station. Imagine the convenience....heaven on earth, eh?
Most of my plays are decent bets on 3 or 4 team parlays, big money on a big parlay is just stupid IMO.
Here's a parlay I threw $5 at in case I go 10/10 ATS in 10 picks. Spreads are halfpoint only and inflated (public loves the faves and spread locks on wed)
7 faves 3 dogs...but the Eagles arent a true fave with less then 50% (I call it a phantom fave) and Rams/Dolphins are HUGE dogs so it evens out. The 3.5's are killers though I gotta say.
